A fastening element (11) for hard substrates (6) has a cylindrical base body (12) which extends along a longitudinal axis (19) and has a lateral surface (18), and a self-tapping thread arranged at least in regions on the base body (12) (13), the height of which extends radially outwardly from the lateral surface (18). The fastening element (11) can additionally be anchored in the substrate (6) by means of a hardenable mass (8). On the base body (12) has a groove (16) is provided, the depth of which extends from the lateral surface (18) radially inwardly and which is arranged axially spaced from the thread (13).
