Claims of equivalent WO 2006088895 A2 We claim 1. A method of isolating a nucleic acid from urine, the method comprising:a. providing urine from a subject;b. separating cells and cell debris from the urine by filtration or centrifugation;c. adding EDTA and Tris-HCl to the urine;d. adding a chaotropic salt to the urine;e. adding a resin, wherein the resin binds the nucleic acid in the presence of the chaotropic salt;f. removing the resin from the urine;and g. eluting the nucleic acid from the resin;thereby isolating the nucleic acid from urine.
  2. 10
A method of detecting a non-viral pathogen in a subject comprising detecting the presence of a nucleic acid from the non- viral pathogen in urine of the subject, wherein the non- viral pathogen is selected from the group consisting of Helicobacter pylori, Bacillus anthracis, Plasmodium species and Leishmania species.
  3. 15
