Contact lens, method for producing same, and pack for storage and maintenance of a contact lens

Abstract

A contact lens (4) comprises a solid component capable of imparting shape and structure to said lens, and a liquid component, at least partially contained in the solid component, capable of favoring the compatibility between said lens and the eye of a user of said lens, wherein the liquid component comprises a solution capable of being used as a lachrymal substitute.

  1. 1
Claims of equivalent WO 2006085351 A1 C L A I M S 1. A contact lens (4) comprising a solid component capable of imparting shape and structure to said lens and a liquid component distributed substantially uniformly in said solid component, capable of favouring the compatibility between said lens and the eye of a user of said lens, characterized in that said liquid component comprises an aqueous solution capable of being used as a lachrymal substitute.
  2. 8
A contact lens according to one or more of the preceding claims, wherein said aqueous solution comprises an effective amount of one or more metallic ions selected from magnesium, calcium or potassium ions.
  3. 9
A contact lens according to one or more of the preceding claims, wherein said lens is of the soft type.
  4. 12
A method for producing a contact lens comprising the steps of:a. obtaining a dry semi-manufactured product of said lens, made of polymeric material, constituting a solid component of said lens, b. hydration of said dry semi-manufactured product in an aqueous solution to impart a liquid component distributed substantially uniformly in said solid component and thus obtain said contact lens, characterized in that said aqueous solution is capable of being used as a lachrymal substitute.
  5. 19
A method according to one or more of claims 12 to 18, wherein said lachrymal substitute comprises an effective amount of one or more metallic ions selected from magnesium, calcium or potassium ions.
  6. 20
A method according to one or more of claims 12 to 19, wherein said contact lens, after said hydration treatment, is subjected to sterilisation within a container containing said lachrymal substitute.
  7. 21
A preserving liquid for contact lenses, comprising an effective amount of a polymer selected from the group consisting of polyvinyl alcohols and their derivatives, polysaccharides and their derivatives and cellulose derivatives, said polymer being capable of constituting a base compound of a lachrymal substitute.
  8. 24
A liquid according to one or more of claims 21 to 23, wherein an effective amount of a disinfecting agent is present.
  9. 25
A pack (1) for the storage and maintenance of contact lenses, comprising a support (2) defining at least one container (3) in which is contained a maintenance liquid (5) and a contact lens (4) immersed in said maintenance liquid, characterized in that said contact lens is according to one or more of claims 1 to 11 and that said maintenance liquid (5) is a solution capable of being used as a lachrymal substitute.
  10. 27
A pack (1) for the storage and maintenance of soft contact lenses, comprising a support (2) defining at least one container (3) in which is contained a maintenance liquid (5) and a contact lens immersed in said maintenance liquid, said contact lens comprising a liquid component based on physiological solution, characterized in that said maintenance liquid (5) is an aqueous solution capable of being used as a lachrymal substitute.
  11. 32
A pack according to one or more of claims 27 to 31, wherein said soft contact lens is produced in order to be replaced weekly or more frequently.
  12. 34
A method for packaging a soft contact lens comprising the step of providing a soft contact lens comprising a liquid component based on physiological solution, and immersing said contact lens in a container at least partially filled with a maintenance liquid, characterized in that said maintenance liquid is an aqueous solution capable of being used as a lachrymal substitute.
