  1. 1
A programmable logic integrated circuit device comprising:a plurality of logic regions (20) of programmable logic disposed on the device (10) in a two-dimensional array of intersecting rows and columns of said regions (20);and a first set of horizontal conductors (650) extending in a row direction and connected to the logic regions (20) within a row of said logic regions (20);characterized by a plurality of input/output cells (630) of input/output circuitry disposed on the device (10) in a row (40) which is interleaved between two of said rows of regions (20);a second set of horizontal conductors (650) extending in the row direction and connected to the input/output cells (630);input pins (642-1, ..., 642-6) provided in said row of logic regions (20) and being located near a center of said device (10);vertical signal conductors (640) extending in a column direction in the center of the device (10) and connected to the first and second set of horizontal conductors (650);programmable logic connector circuitry (644) for programmably selecting one or more of input signals of the input pins (642-1, ..., 642-6) and/or one or more of output signals from a subset of logic regions (20) near the center of the device (10) within said row of logic regions (20), and for outputting the selected signals to said vertical conductors (640) for providing the selected output signals to the logic regions (20) via the horizontal conductors (650).
  2. 2
Device defined in claim 1 wherein at least some of the cells (630) are associated with regions in one of the rows of regions between which the row of cells is interleaved by conductors (260, 300, 310) which extend between the associated cells and regions, said conductors (260, 300, 310) being configured to convey output signals from the associated regions to the associated cells.
