  1. 1
An apparatus for reading address information from an optical disk medium using an optical head, the optical disk medium comprising a track groove on which information is recorded along the track groove on a block unit basis, the block unit having a predetermined length, wherein the block unit includes a number of sub-blocks that are arranged along the groove, wherein a part of the track groove has a wobble shape that is defined by a combination of a steep displacement pattern and a smooth displacement pattern to represent address information of the block unit, where the sub-blocks are provided with sub-block marks containing the same address information represented by the wobbled groove, the sub-block marks having a wobbled shape with a changing phase, the apparatus comprising:a differential operating circuit (372) being adapted to obtain a wobble signal corresponding to the wobble shape;a band pass filter (501) being adapted to output the wobble basic frequency signal from the wobble signal;a synchronization means (502, 503) being adapted to generate a second carrier signal based on the wobble signal wherein the frequency of the second carrier signal is twice as high as the wobble basic frequency;and a signal processor being adapted to measure the phase polarity of a second harmonic signal of the wobble signal, comprising a second harmonic detection means (512, 513) being adapted to detect the phase of the second harmonic frequency based on the second carrier signal and a judging means (521, 522) for judging the polarity of the phase of the second harmonic frequency by comparing and for outputting information 0 or 1 for each sub-block.
  2. 3
A method for reading address information from an optical disk medium using an optical head, the optical disk medium comprising a track groove on which information is recorded along the track groove on a block unit basis, the block unit having a predetermined length, wherein the block unit includes a number of sub-blocks that are arranged along the groove, wherein a part of the track groove has a wobble shape that is defined by a combination of a steep displacement pattern and a smooth displacement pattern to represent address information of the block unit, where the sub-blocks are provided with sub-block marks containing the same address information represented by the wobbled groove, the sub-block marks having a wobbled shape with a changing phase, the method including:a step for obtaining a wobble signal corresponding to the wobble shape using differential operating circuit;a step for band pass filtering (501) for outputting the wobble basic frequency signal from the wobble signal;a step for synchronization (502, 503) for generating a second carrier signal based on the wobble signal wherein the frequency of the second carrier signal is twice as high as the wobble basic frequency;a step for measuring the phase polarity of the second harmonic of the fundamental wobble frequency of the wobble signal (512, 513) for detecting the phase of the second harmonic frequency based on the second carrier signal;and a step for judging the measured phase polarity (521, 522) for judging the polarity of the phase of the second harmonic frequency by comparing and for outputting information 0 or 1 for each sub-block.
