  1. 1
A bicycle crank fixing structure (56) comprising:a crank axle (54) having a first axial end with a recess section (57) formed on an outer circumferential surface thereof;a crank (52) including a crank axle mounting section with a mounting bore (52a) non-rotatably coupled to the first axial end of the crank axle (54) and a slit (52d) extending radially from the mounting bore (52a), the crank (52) being disposed with respect to the crank axle (54) so that the slit (52d) of the crank (52) is aligned with the recess section (57) of the crank axle (54);a first screw member (67a) disposed in the crank axle mounting section of the crank (52) so that the first screw member (67a) perpendicularly intersects with the slit (52d) of the crank (52) to fasten the crank (52) on the crank axle (54) by adjusting a width of the slit (52d);and a second screw member (67b) disposed in the crank axle mounting section of the crank (52) so that the second screw member (67b) perpendicularly intersects with the slit (52d) of the crank (52), the second screw member (67b) being spaced apart from the first screw member (67a) in an axial direction of the crank axle (54), characterized in that a plate-shaped retaining member (58) is disposed in the slit (52d) of the crank (52), the retaining member (58) having a retaining projection (58c) that is retained in the recess section (57) of the crank axle (54), and the retaining member (58) includes a mounting hole (58a) through which the second screw member (67b) passes and an engagement notch (58b) that engages with the first screw member (67a) with the engagement notch (58b) being configured and arranged to allow rotation of the retaining member (58) about the second screw member (67b) toward the outer circumferential surface of the crank axle (54).
  2. 2
The bicycle crank fixing structure (56) in accordance with claim 1, further comprising a fastening bolt (59) screwed to a female screw section (54a) formed on the first axial end of the crank axle (54) to fixedly couple the crank (52) to the crank axle (54).
  3. 3
The bicycle crank fixing structure (56) in accordance with claim 2, wherein the retaining projection (58c) of the retaining member (58) is disposed between the mounting hole (58a) and the engagement notch (58b).
  4. 4
The bicycle crank fixing structure (56) in accordance with claim 3, wherein the engagement notch (58b) of the retaining member (58) includes a rotating cam surface (58e) configured and arranged to contact a screw groove (67e) of the first screw member (67a) so that the retaining member (58) rotates in a direction that the retaining projection (58c) of the retaining member (58) approaches the recess section (57) of the crank axle (54) in accordance with rotation of the second screw member (67b).
  5. 5
The bicycle crank fixing structure (56) in accordance with claim 1, wherein the first and second screw members (67a, 67b) include first and second head portions (67c, 67d), respectively, that are disposed in opposite sides with respect to the slit (52d) of the crank (52).
  6. 6
The bicycle crank fixing structure (56) in accordance with claim 5, wherein the retaining member (58) is arranged such that the mounting hole (58a) is disposed inwardly with respect to the engagement notch (58b) in the axial direction of the crank axle (54).
  7. 7
The bicycle crank fixing structure (56) in accordance with claim 1, wherein the retaining member (58) is made of metal.
  8. 8
The bicycle crank fixing structure (56) in accordance with claim 1, wherein the retaining member (58) is made of resin.
  9. 9
The bicycle crank fixing structure (56) in accordance with claim 8, wherein the retaining projection (58c) of the retaining member (58) is made of metal and integrally formed with the retaining member (58).
