  1. 1
    A ready-to-use hydrophilic catheter assembly (10, 110, 310, 410, 510, 610, 710, 810), comprising:a gas impermeable package (12, 312, 412, 512, 812) having a sealed cavity, a hydrophilic coated catheter (10, 110, 310, 410, 510, 610, 710, 810) disposed within the sealed cavity, the hydrophilic coated catheter (10, 110, 310, 410, 510, 610, 710, 810) comprising a tube (14, 114, 314, 414, 514, 614, 714, 814) having an outer surface with a hydrophilic coating on at least a portion thereof to be inserted into the urethra;an amount of liquid disposed within the sealed cavity;characterized in that the catheter assembly further comprises an introducer tip (16, 316, 616, 716) at a proximal insertion end of the tube (14, 114, 314, 414, 514, 614, 714, 814), and a flexible sleeve (20, 120, 320, 720) formed of a vapor permeable material attached to the introducer tip (16, 316, 616, 716) and extending therefrom to a distal end of the tube (14, 114, 314, 414, 514, 614, 714, 814);and whereby the ready-to-use condition of the catheter is due to the vapor donating liquid producing a vapor atmosphere within the gas impermeable package (12) that activates the hydrophilic coated catheter.
