  1. 1
A remote copy method in a system, wherein the system comprises a host computer (100a), plural first storage systems (17001, 17002) each of which is coupled to the host computer, and plural second storage systems (17003, 17004) each of which is coupled to one of the first storage systems, and plural third storage systems (17005, 17006) wherein each of the first storage systems comprises a first logical disk (17011, 17012) and a first controller configured to control data input to the first logical disk, each of the second storage systems comprises a second logical disk (17013, 17014) and a second controller configured to control data input to the second logical disk, and each of the third storage systems comprises a third logical disk (17015, 17016) and a third controller configured to control data input to the third logical disk, the method comprises the steps of:configuring a plurality of synchronous copy pairs (17031, 17032) each comprising a pair (17011-17015, 17012-17016) of respectively a first logical disk and a second logical disk, wherein the second logical disk of a pair stores, through asynchronous remote copying, a copy of data stored in the first logical disk of said pair;configuring a plurality of asynchronous copy pairs (17021, 17022) each comprising a pair (17011-17013, 17012-17014) of respectively a first logical disk and a third logical disk, wherein the third logical disk of a pair stores, through asynchronous remote copying, a copy of data stored in the first logical disk of said pair;configuring a synchronous copy group comprising a plurality of synchronous copy pairs, configuring an asynchronous copy group comprising a plurality of synchronous copy pairs, wherein, when a failure occurs, if the failure has occurred in a copy pair of the synchronous copy group, remote copying is suspended for the copy pairs of the synchronous copy group, while remote copying continues for the copy pairs of the asynchronous copy group, and thereafter restarting remote copying for the copy pairs of the asynchronous copy group.
  2. 2
A remote copy system, comprising a host computer (100a), plural first storage systems (17001, 17002) each of which is coupled to the host computer, plural second storage systems (17003, 17004) each of which is coupled to one of the first storage systems, and plural third storage systems (17005, 17006) wherein each of the first storage systems comprises a first logical disk (17011, 17012) and a first controller configured to control data input to the first logical disk, each of the second storage systems comprises a second logical disk (17013, 17014) and a second controller configured to control data input to the second logical disk, and each of the third storage systems comprises a third logical disk (17015, 17016) and a third controller configured to control data input to the third logical disk, means for configuring a plurality of synchronous copy pairs (17031, 17032) each comprising a pair (17011-17015, 17012-17016) of respectively a first logical disk and a second logical disk, wherein the second logical disk of a pair stores, through synchronous remote copying, a copy of data stored in the first logical disk of said pair;means for configuring a plurality of asynchronous copy pairs (17021, 17022) each comprising a pair (17011-17013, 17012-17014) of respectively a first logical disk and a third logical disk, wherein the third logical disk of a pair stores, through asynchronous remote copying, a copy of data stored in the first logical disk of said pair;means for configuring a synchronous copy group comprising a plurality of synchronous copy pairs, means for configuring an asynchronous copy group comprising a plurality of asynchronous copy pairs, means which, if the failure has occurred in a copy pair of the asynchronous copy group, suspend remote copying for the copy pairs of the asynchronous copy group while the remote copying continues for the copy pairs of the asynchronous copy group and thereafter restarting remote copying for the copy pairs of the synchronous copy group.
