  1. 1
Claims of equivalent WO 2004064119 A2 CLAIMS 1. A method of coordinating the launching of a software application among two operating systems, where the second operating system is more powerful than the first operating system, comprising the steps of:using the second operating system: (a) gathering information regarding a number of file types and applications associated therewith;and (b) creating a physical file including information for selecting an associated application based at least in part on a file name identifier;transferring the physical file from the first operating system to the second operating system;and using the first operating system: (a) parsing the physical file to identify information stored in the physical file;and (b) registering each file types and applications associated therewith.
  2. 8
A personal electronics device comprising:a second operating system supporting a relatively large number of software applications and having a registry that associates program file types with applications;a first operating system supporting a relatively limited number of software applications and configured to periodically retrieve a copy of the second operating system registry and build a first operating system registry;wherein the first operating system is configured such that when a user requests a file to be executed, the first operating system calls upon the second operating system to launch the associated application.
  3. 13
A personal electronics device comprising:a first processor supporting a first operating system and a relatively limited number of functions, where the first processor is configured to provide a display output comprising M number of bits;a second processor supporting a second operating system and a relatively large number of functions, where the second processor is configured to provide a display output comprising N number of bits, where M and N are different;a display controller coupled to the first processor and the second processor and configured to normalize the display bits from the first processor and the second processor to generate a normalized display output;and a display coupled to the display controller and configured to display images based on the normalized display output.
  4. 22
A method of displaying image data from a first processor and a second processor on a display, comprising the steps of:converting M number of display bits from the first processor to a normalized display output;converting N number of display bits from the first processor to a normalized display output, where M and N are different;and selectively displaying an image on the display in response to a user request.
  5. 31
A personal electronics device responsive to thermal conditions comprising:a first processor supporting a first operating system and a relatively limited number of functions, where the first processor generates a relatively limited amount of heat;a second processor supporting a second operating system and a relatively large number of functions, where the second processor generates a relatively large amount of heat;a thermal sensor coupled to the first processor and configured to generate a thermal signal;wherein the first processor is configured to control operation of the second processor based at least in part on the thermal signal.
  6. 35
A method of controlling a temperature of personal electronics device having a first processor and a second processor, comprising the steps of sensing the temperature of the electronics device and generating a thermal signal;and the first processor controlling operation of the second processor based at least in part on the thermal signal.
  7. 39
A personal electronics device having a thermal profile including a number of hot spots comprising:a case that includes a number of features proximate to the hot spots to dissipate heat from the hot spots and cool the device.
  8. 42
A dock for communicating with and cooling a personal electronics device, comprising:a fan configured to selectively activate in response to docking of the personal electronics device.
  9. 45
A personal electronics device for acting as an appliance drive to a personal computer comprising:a non-embedded processor configured to perform a set of functions;an embedded processor configured to perform a limited set of functions compared to the non-embedded processor and configured to control operation of the non-embedded processor;a disk drive coupled to the embedded processor and responsive to commands therefrom;and a terminal configured to connect to the personal computer.
  10. 52
A personal electronics device comprising:a non-embedded processor configured to perform a set of functions;an embedded processor configured to perform a limited set of functions compared to the non-embedded processor and configured to control operation of the non-embedded processor;a display coupled to the embedded processor and the non-embedded processor and configured to selectively display information from the embedded processor and the non- embedded processor;and an input device coupled to the embedded processor and non-embedded processor to allow a user to provide instructions to the embedded processor and non-embedded processor;wherein the embedded processor is configured to operate a keypad control program that includes a set of application protocols that enable the display using a keypad software application.
  11. 58
A personal electronics device comprising:a non-embedded processor configured to perform a set of functions;an embedded processor configured to perform a limited set of functions compared to the non-embedded processor and configured to control operation of the non-embedded processor;a display coupled to the embedded processor and the non-embedded processor and configured to selectively display information from the embedded processor and the non- embedded processor;and an input device coupled to the embedded processor and non-embedded processor to allow a user to provide instructions to the embedded processor and non-embedded processor;wherein the embedded processor and non-embedded processor are configured to selectively operate simultaneously.
  12. 65
A method of operating a personal electronics device comprising an embedded processor configured to perform a relatively limited set of functions, a non-embedded processor configured to perform a greater set of functions relative to the embedded processor; a display coupled to the embedded processor and the non-embedded processor and configured to selectively display information from the embedded processor and the non- embedded processor; and an input device coupled to the embedded processor and non- embedded processor to allow a user to provide instructions to the embedded processor and non-embedded processor, comprising the steps of:selectively operating the embedded processor and non-embedded processor simultaneously.
