15 claims: 8 independent, 7 dependent

  1. 1
A communication terminal (2, 2a, 2b, 2c, 2d) which constitutes a group with at least one other communication terminal (2, 2a, 2b, 2c, 2d) and communicates within the group, comprising:a receiver unit (56) adapted to receive a data signal from the at least one other communication terminal (2, 2a, 2b, 2c, 2d);a reception controller (52) adapted to count the number of data signals received from the at least one other communication terminal (2, 2a, 2b, 2c, 2d);a transmitter unit (54) adapted to send a data signal to the at least one other communication terminal (2, 2a, 2b, 2c, 2d);and a power controller adapted to enter a power saving state by learning that the number of data signals counted in a beacon interval has reached the number of the at least one other communication terminal (2, 2a, 2b, 2c, 2d) in the group and by learning that the communication terminal (2, 2a, 2b, 2c, 2d) has sent its own data signal to the at least one other communication terminal (2, 2a, 2b, 2c, 2d).
  2. 8
The communication terminal according to any of claims 1 to 7, wherein the terminal and the at least other terminal are adapted to modify the beacon interval in accordance with the number of terminals in the group, such that the beacon interval is shorter.
  3. 9
The communication terminal according to any of claims 1 to 8, wherein the data signal is a status information of the terminal.
  4. 10
The communication terminal according to any of claims 1 to 9, wherein the beacon interval comprises as broadcast signal an awake beacon signal transmitted at the beginning of the beacon interval.
  5. 12
The communication terminal according to any of claims 1 to 11, wherein the terminals of the group are game devices.
  6. 13
A power control method comprising the steps of:receiving by a communication terminal (2, 2a, 2b, 2c, 2d) a data signal from at least one other communication terminal (2, 2a, 2b, 2c, 2d) constituting a group with the receiving communication terminal (2, 2a, 2b, 2c, 2d);counting the number of data signals received from the at least one other communication terminal (2, 2a, 2b, 2c, 2d);sending by a transmitter unit (54) of the receiving communication terminal (2, 2a, 2b, 2c, 2d) a data signal to the at least one other communication terminal (2, 2a, 2b, 2c, 2d);and entering a power saving state by learning that the number of data signals counted in a beacon interval has reached the number of the at least one other communication terminal (2, 2a, 2b, 2c, 2d) in the group and by learning that the communication terminal (2, 2a, 2b, 2c, 2d) has sent its own data signal to the at least one other communication terminal (2, 2a, 2b, 2c, 2d).
  7. 14
A program which causes a computer to carry out the functions of:receiving by a communication terminal (2, 2a, 2b, 2c, 2d) of the computer a data signal from at least one other communication terminal (2, 2a, 2b, 2c, 2d) constituting a group with the receiving communication terminal (2, 2a, 2b, 2c, 2d);counting the number of data signals received from the at least one other communication terminal (2, 2a, 2b, 2c, 2d);sending by a transmitter unit (54) of the receiving communication terminal (2, 2a, 2b, 2c, 2d) a data signal to the at least one other communication terminal (2, 2a, 2b, 2c, 2d);and entering a power saving state by learning that the number of data signals counted in a beacon interval has reached the number of the at least one other communication terminal (2, 2a, 2b, 2c, 2d) in the group and by learning that the communication terminal (2, 2a, 2b, 2c, 2d) has sent its own data signal to the at least one other communication terminal (2, 2a, 2b, 2c, 2d).
  8. 15
A communication system (1) comprising a plurality of communication terminals (2, 2a, 2b, 2c, 2d) according to any of claims 1 to 12, said system being adapted to perform:a first power saving mode in which one of the plurality of communication terminals (2, 2a, 2b, 2c, 2d) is adapted to transmit a broadcast signal to each other communication terminal of the plurality of communication terminals, wherein the other communication terminals are adapted to enter a sleep state upon reception of the broadcast signal from the one communication terminal (2, 2a, 2b, 2c, 2d);and a second power saving mode in which each of the plurality of communication terminals (2, 2a, 2b, 2c, 2d) is adapted to enter a sleep state autonomously by learning that the number of data signals received from one or more other communication terminals (2, 2a, 2b, 2c, 2d) has reached a predetermined value and by learning that an own data signal has been sent to at least one other communication terminal (2, 2a, 2b, 2c, 2d) of the communication terminals (2, 2a, 2b, 2c, 2d).
