  1. 1
A method in a first mobile station (100, 200, 300, 400, 500) comprising:providing in storage area in the first mobile station (100, 200, 300, 400, 500) a mapping table (608) for storing permanent address information and network identification information for a plurality of associate mobile stations that connect to a wireless network (104, 204, 304, 404, 504), the network identification information being dynamically assigned by the wireless network (104, 204, 304, 404, 504);storing in the mapping table (608) the permanent address information for a plurality of the associate mobile stations and the network identification information for a plurality of the associate mobile stations, the network identification information being received from the associate mobile station via a communication path that utilizes a first service gateway type (106, 206, 306, 406, 506);receiving and storing a first network identification code (609) for the first mobile station (100, 200, 300, 400, 500) that is different from a previously assigned first network identification code (609);detecting that the first network identification code (609) is different from the previously assigned first network identification code;and transmitting to each associate mobile station, in response to the detecting step, the first network identification code (609) of the first mobile station (100, 200, 300, 400, 500) via a predetermined communication path using the permanent address information of the associate mobile station and at least the first service gateway type (106, 206, 306, 406, 506) or a second gateway type (106, 206, 306, 406, 506).
  2. 15
A mobile station (100, 200, 300, 400, 500) comprising:a microprocessor (938);a wireless transceiver (600) for communicating over a wireless network (104, 204, 304, 404, 504);storage area (606) having storage space for a mapping table (608) and for storing an identification code (609) assigned by the wireless network (104, 204, 304, 404, 504) to the mobile station (100, 200, 300, 400, 500), the mapping table (608) being configured to store permanent address information and network identification information for a plurality of associate mobile stations that connect to the wireless network (104, 204, 304, 404, 504), the network identification information being dynamically assigned by the wireless network (104, 204, 304, 404, 504);and computer executable code that when executed by the microprocessor (938) causes the mobile station (100, 200, 300, 400, 500) to: store in the mapping table (608) the permanent address information for a plurality of the associate mobile stations and the network identification information for a plurality of the associate mobile stations, the network identification information being received from the associate mobile station via a communication path that utilizes a first service gateway type (106, 206, 306, 406, 506);detect when the mobile station (100, 200, 300, 400, 500) has received a network identification code (609) that is different from a previously assigned network identification code (609);and transmit via the wireless transceiver (600) to each associate mobile station the network identification code (609) of the mobile station via a predetermined communication path using the permanent address information of the associate mobile station and at least the first service gateway type (106, 206, 306, 406, 506) or a second gateway type (106, 206, 306, 406,506).
