  1. 1
A method for resolving conflicts in synchronization of local credentials and remote credentials, wherein one or more state files (395, 400) are stored for conflict resolution, a state file being a per-user persisted data structure used to store a state (450) of local credentials, wherein each credential is either exportable or protected, the method comprising:reading (620, 630) local credentials (355) from a local cache (350) and remote credentials (365) from a remote cache (360) in response to receiving (610) an event notification;comparing the local credentials and the remote credentials to determine whether any one or more of the local credentials are different than the remote credentials;and upon determining that any one or more of the local credentials are different than the remote credentials, determining (640) if both the one or more of the local credentials and the one or more of the corresponding remote credentials have been changed since a last synchronization, resulting in a synchronization conflict;and synchronizing (670) the local credentials and remote credentials, wherein a synchronization conflict is solved (660) using an arbitration matrix, wherein a flag (420) in the state file (395, 400) indicates whether a strict (550) or a lenient (500) matrix is used to solve synchronization conflicts, the strict matrix ensuring that in a conflict situation between a remote credential and a local credential, where one of the credentials is exportable and the other protected, the exportable credential is chosen for synchronizing, whereas the lenient matrix ensures that in the same conflict situation, the protected credential is chosen.
  2. 16
A computer program product encoding a computer program for executing on a computer system a computer process for resolving conflicts in synchronization of local credentials and remote credentials, wherein one or more state files (395, 400) are stored for conflict resolution, a state file being a per-user persisted data structure used to store a state (450) of local credentials, wherein each credential is either exportable or protected, the computer process comprising:reading (620, 630) local credentials from a local cache and remote credentials from a remote cache in response to receiving (610) an event notification;comparing the local credentials and the remote credentials to determine whether any one or more of the local credentials are different than the remote credentials;and upon determining that any one or more of the local credentials are different than the remote credentials, determining (640) if both the one or more of the local credentials and the one or more of the corresponding remote credentials have been changed since a last synchronization, resulting in a synchronization conflict;and synchronizing (670) the local credentials and the remote credentials, wherein a synchronization conflict is solved (660) using an arbitration matrix, wherein a flag (420) in a state file (395, 400) indicates whether a strict (550) or a lenient (500) matrix is used to solve synchronization conflicts, the strict matrix ensuring that in a conflict situation between a remote credential and a local credential, where one of the credentials is exportable and the other protected, the exportable credential is chosen for synchronizing, whereas the lenient matrix ensures that in the same conflict situation, the protected credential is chosen.
  3. 31
A system for resolving conflicts in synchronization of local credentials and remote credentials, wherein one or more state files (395, 400) are stored for conflict resolution, a state file being a per-user persisted data structure used to store a state (450) of local credentials, wherein each credential is either exportable or protected, the system comprising:an event handler (210) adapted to receive event notifications;a local store manager (330) adapted to read local credentials from a local cache and remote credentials from a remote cache in response to receiving an event notification;and a synchronization module (320) operatively associated with the event handler and the local store manager, the synchronization module being adapted to: compare the local credentials and the remote credentials to determine whether any one or more of the local credentials are different than the remote credentials;and upon determining that any one or more of the local credentials are different than the remote credentials, determine if both the one or more of the local credentials and the one or more of the corresponding remote credentials have been changed since a last synchronization, resulting in a synchronization conflict;and synchronize the local credentials and remote credentials, wherein synchronization conflict is solved using an arbitration matrix, wherein a flag (420) in a state file (395, 400) indicates whether a strict (550) or a lenient (500) matrix is used to solve synchronization conflicts, the strict matrix ensuring that in a conflict situation between a remote credential and a local credential, where one of the credentials is exportable and the other protected, the exportable credential is chosen for synchronizing, whereas the lenient matrix ensures that in the same conflict situation, the protected credential is chosen.
