Combination knife

Abstract

The present invention relates to a combination knife intended primarily for hunting purposes, wherein the combination knife includes a common blade (9), which is common to two different blades (9; 11), each located on a respective side of a joint (14) which is mounted in a knife handle (20) and around which the common blade (13) can be rotated, and wherein the handle (20) has a length which corresponds to the length of respective blades (9; 11) from said joint (14) to the point or tip (15, 16) of said blades. The invention is characterised in that one blade (9) includes a conventional knife-acting cutting edge, while the other blade (11) includes a stomach opening blade (11) whose cutting edge (12) is situated on the upper side of the blade (11) in its use position; and in that the combination knife includes latching means (17, 18, 21; 24) for preventing further rotation of the common blade (13) relative to the handle (20) subsequent to having rotated the common blade (13) in a direction such that one of said two blades (9; 11) has been brought to a position of use; and in that the cutting edge (10) of the knife-acting blade and the cutting edge (12) of the stomach opening blade are situated on one and the same side of the common blade (13).

4 claims: 1 independent, 3 dependent

  1. 1
A combination knife, which is intended primarily for hunting purposes and which includes a common blade (9), for two different blades (9;11), each located on a respective side of a joint (14), which is mounted on a knife handle (20) and around which the common blade (13) can be rotated, wherein the knife handle (20) has a length which corresponds to the length of respective blades (9;11) from said joint (14) to the tip or point (15, 16) of said blades, characterised in that one blade (9) includes a typical knife-acting cutting edge and the other blade (11) includes a stomach opening blade (11) whose cutting edge (12) is situated on the upper side of the blade (11) in the position of use;in that the combination knife includes a latching means (17,18;21,24) for preventing further rotation of the common blade (13) relative to the handle (20) subsequent to having rotated the common blade (13) in a direction in which one of said two blades (9;11) has been brought to a position of use;and in that the cutting edge (10) of the knife-acting blade and the cutting edge (12) of the stomach opening blade are located on one and the same side of the common blade (13).
  2. 2
A combination knife according to Claim 1, characterised in that the latching means (17) includes an outwardly projecting shoulder (18) which is located between the two knife handle linings (1, 2) and fastened relative thereto;in that the shoulder (18) is located at that end of the handle (20) which lies opposite to the end on which the joint (14) is located;and in that the shoulder (18) projects sufficiently far in between the linings to prevent the common blade (13) from being rotated beyond the shoulder (18).
  3. 3
A combination knife according to Claim 1, characterised in that the latching means (24) includes a through-penetrating channel (21) in the common blade (13), said channel extending arcuately with the centre of the arc coinciding with the centre of the joint (14), wherein the latching means includes a pin (19) that extends between the linings (1, 2) and through said channel (21);and in that said channel (21) is placed so that when the common blade (13) has been rotated so as to bring the pin (19) into abutment with one end (22) of the channel (21) or the other end (23) of said channel, either the knife-acting blade (9) or the stomach opening blade (11) will be in its position of use.
  4. 4
A combination knife according to Claim 1, 2 or 3, characterised in that the stomach opening blade (11) has an obtuse tip or point (16).
