81 claims: 5 independent, 76 dependent

  1. 1
Claims of equivalent WO 2004037064 A2 CLAIMS We claim:1. A bypass conduit for placement within a hollow body organ, comprising: a tubular member which defines a main lumen therethrough, wherein the main lumen maintains communication from proximal to distal of the hollow body organ;and wherein at least a portion of an outer surface of the tubular member is adapted to maintain fluid communication therealong.
  2. 28
A method of bypassing a hollow body organ, comprising:securing a proximal end of a tubular member to an artificial narrowing created within the hollow body organ;and positioning a distal end of the tubular member such that the distal end is distal of the hollow body organ.
  3. 43
A method of partitioning a hollow body organ from within the organ, said method comprising:positioning a tissue acquisition device into or partially into the hollow body organ, said tissue acquisition device having a proximal end and a distal end and at least one lumen therebetween;acquiring at least one tissue region within at least one opening defined near or at the distal end of said tissue acquisition device such that said tissue region is at least substantially in circumferential juxtaposition about the tissue acquisition device;and fastening said tissue region into folds in approximation to one another such that a tissue ring is formed about the tissue acquisition device and wherein communication with the hollow body organ through the tissue ring is maintained.
  4. 62
A tissue approximation and fixation apparatus, comprising:an elongate outer tubular member defining at least a first lumen therethrough;an elongate inner tubular member defining at least a second lumen therethrough and slidingly disposed throughout the first lumen such that a distal portion of the inner tubular member extends partially beyond a distal end of the outer tubular member;a fastening device attached to the distal end of the inner tubular member, wherein the fastening device defines a circumferential receiving surface about the inner tubular member, and wherein the fastening device further defines at least one port in fluid communication with the second lumen of the inner tubular member, wherein an enclosable channel is defined about the distal portion of the inner tubular member when the receiving surface of the fastening device is positioned adjacently to the distal end of the outer tubular member.
  5. 75
A bypass conduit for placement within a hollow body organ, comprising:a flexible tubular member having a proximal end, a distal end, and a length therebetween with a lumen defined throughout the length, wherein the proximal end is adapted to be secured to a circumferential ring of tissue created adjacent to or within a hollow body organ, and wherein the length is sized such that the distal end is positioned distally of the hollow body organ such that the hollow body organ is bypassed.
