  1. 1
A packet shaping method for performing shaping to an original burst length when burst of flows consisting of packet strings has grown in a communication device (PPU,2), characterized in that said method comprises steps of:monitoring an arrival time in a second network device (1,3, 2c) for each packet (A1,B1,B2) on which pass time (TP) has been recorded in a first network device (PPU, 2) that is upstream of the second network device, wherein the first and second network devices are routers (2a - 2c);calculating delay time (TD)of the arrived packets from a location in the first network device of recording of said pass time to the location in the second network device of monitoring of the arrival time;obtaining a maximum delay time (TD MAX ) among the delay times of packets that have arrived;determining send time (T OUT ) of each arrived packet on the basis of the maximum delay time, based on the following equation: TOUT = TP + TDMAX , wherein TOUT is the send time, TP is the pass time of the corresponding packet and TDMAX is the maximum delay time;and sending said arrived packets at said their respective send times, thereby performing packet shaping.
  2. 2
A packet shaping method according to Claim 1, characterized in that said method further comprises:inputting said send time to an external packet output device (4);and storing the arrived packet in a buffer (4a) of the external packet output device, wherein the external packet output device sends the arrived packet in the buffer at said send time.
  3. 3
The packet shaping method according to Claim 1 or 2, wherein said send time (T OUT ) is a time obtained by adding the maximum delay time (TD MAX ) to said pass time (TP).
  4. 4
The packet shaping method according to Claim 2, wherein packets arrive on one or more input lines (#lin...#Nout) and are sent on one or more output lines (#lout...#Nout) and packet shaping is performed for each output line.
  5. 5
The packet shaping method according to Claim 1, wherein said maximum delay time (TD MAX ) is cleared if a packet ( (A1,B1,B2) does not arrive in a prescribed time.
  6. 6
A packet shaping system (1, 2a - 2c) for performing shaping to an original burst length when burst of flow consisting of packet strings has grown in a communication device (PPU, 2), characterized in that the packet shaping system comprises:a first network device (PPU, 2) that is a router (2a, 2b);a second network device (1,3) that is a router (2c) downstream of the first network device (1,3);arrival time monitoring means (11) arranged to monitor an arrival time (TA) in the second network device (1,3, 2c) for each packet (A1,B1,B2) on which pass time (TP) has been recorded in the first network device (PPU, 2, 2a, 2b);delay time calculation means (1a, 11) arranged to calculate delay time (TD) of the arrived packet from a location of recording of said pass time (TP) in said first network device (PPU, 2) to the location of monitoring of the arrival time (TA) in said second network device (1,3);maximum delay time obtaining means (1b, 11) arranged to obtain a maximum delay time (TD MAx ) among the delay times (TD) of the packets that have arrived;packet delay means (11, 1c) arranged to, based on the maximum delay time (TD MAX ), determine send time (T OUT ) of each arrived packet based on the following equation: TOUT = TP + TDMAX , wherein TOUT is the send time, TP is the pass time of the corresponding packet and TDMAX is the maximum delay time;and packet output means (1a, 15) arranged to send the arrived packet at said send time.
  7. 7
A packet shaping system (1, 2a - 2c) according to Claim 6, wherein said packet output means (4) includes a buffer (4a) arranged to store the arrived packets and a packet send portion (4b, 4c) arranged to send the arrived packets (40) in the buffer at said send time (T OUT ).
  8. 8
The packet shaping system (1, 2a - 2c) according to Claim 6, wherein said communication device (PPU, 2) further comprises one or more input lines (#1in...#Nin) and one or more output lines (#lout...#Nout) and is arranged to perform packet shaping on each output line.
  9. 9
The packet shaping system (1, 2a - 2c) according to Claim 6, further comprising means arranged to clear said maximum delay time (TD MAX ) if a packet does not arrive in a prescribed time.
