  1. 1
A method for video signal processing by a deinterlacer, the method comprising:- generating of a plurality of present line pixels and a plurality of absent line pixels by taking pixels of available lines from sources fields input to the deinterlacer as the plurality of present line pixels and determining pixels of the remaining lines needed to fill a deinterlaced output frame as the absent line pixels by a pixel computation of the dei nterlacer;- transferring said plurality of present line pixels to a plurality of lower line pixels and said plurality of absent line pixels to a plurality of upper line pixels when said deinterlaced output frame is originated from a bottom field, or transferring said plurality of present line pixels to said plurality of upper line pixels and said plurality of absent line pixels to said plurality of lower line pixels when said deinterlaced output frame is originated from a top field;- buffering the plurality of upper line pixels in a first buffer that holds up to a half video line, and the plurality of lower line pixels in a second buffer that holds up to a video line;- ordering said buffered plurality of upper line pixels by selecting N of said buffered plurality of upper line pixels;- ordering said buffered plurality of lower line pixels by selecting N of said buffered plurality of lower line pixels;- generating the deinterlaced output frame by alternatively selecting between said ordered buffered plurality of upper line pixels and said ordered buffered plurality of lower line pixels to output the plurality of present line pixels and the plurality of absent line pixels of said deinterlaced output frame, wherein N corresponds to a line length of said deinterlaced output frame, and - buffering the deinterlaced output frame in a third buffer to provide dataflow smoothing to allow the output of the deinterlaced output frame to be transferred averaged over an entire line time rather than being forced to sit idle during horizontal blanking followed by a higher peak data rate.
  2. 3
A machine-readable storage having stored thereon, a computer program having at least one code section for video signal processing by a deinterlacer, the at least one code section being executable by a machine for causing the machine to perform steps comprising:- code for generating of a plurality of present line pixels and a plurality of absent line pixels by taking pixels of available lines from sources fields input to the deinterlacer as the plurality of present line pixels and determining pixels of the remaining lines needed to fill a deinterlaced output frame as the absent line pixels by a pixel computation of the deinterlacer;- code for transferring said plurality of present line pixels to a plurality of lower line pixels and said plurality of absent line pixels to a plurality of upper line pixels when said deinterlaced output frame is originated from a bottom field, or transferring said plurality of present line pixels to said plurality of upper line pixels and said plurality of absent line pixels to said plurality of lower line pixels when said deinterlaced output frame is originated from a top field;- code for buffering the plurality of upper line pixels in a first buffer that holds up to a half video line, and the plurality of lower line pixels in a second buffer that holds up to a video line;- code for ordering said buffered plurality of upper line pixels by selecting N of said buffered plurality of upper line pixels;- code for ordering said buffered plurality of lower line pixels by selecting N of said buffered plurality of lower line pixels;- code for generating the deinterlaced output frame by alternatively selecting between said ordered buffered plurality of upper line pixels and said ordered buffered plurality of lower line pixels to output the plurality of present line pixels and the plurality of absent line pixels of said deinterlaced output frame, wherein N corresponds to a line length of said deinterlaced output frame, and - code for buffering the deinterlaced output frame in a third buffer to provide dataflow smoothing to allow the output of the deinterlaced output frame to be transferred averaged over an entire line time rather than being forced to sit idle during horizontal blanking followed by a higher peak data rate.
  3. 5
A system for video signal processing by a deinterlacer, the system adapted to:- generate a plurality of present line pixels and a plurality of absent line pixels by taking pixels of available lines from sources fields input to the deinterlacer as the plurality of present line pixels and determining pixels of the remaining lines needed to fill a deinterlaced output frame as the absent line pixels by a pixel computation of the deinterlacer;- transfer said plurality of present line pixels to a plurality of lower line pixels and said plurality of absent line pixels to a plurality of upper line pixels when said deinterlaced output frame is originated from a bottom field, or transferring said plurality of present line pixels to said plurality of upper line pixels and said plurality of absent line pixels to said plurality of lower line pixels when said deinterlaced output frame is originated from a top field;- buffer the plurality of upper line pixels in a first buffer (602) that holds up to a half video line, and the plurality of lower line pixels in a second buffer (604) that holds up to a video line;- order said buffered plurality of upper line pixels by selecting N of said buffered plurality of upper line pixels;- order said buffered plurality of lower line pixels by selecting N of said buffered plurality of lower line pixels;- generate the deinterlaced output frame by alternatively selecting between said ordered buffered plurality of upper line pixels and said ordered buffered plurality of lower line pixels to output the plurality of present line pixels and the plurality of absent line pixels of said deinterlaced output frame, wherein N corresponds to a line length of said deinterlaced output frame, and - buffer the deinterlaced output frame in a third buffer (606) to provide dataflow smoothing to allow the output of the deinterlaced output frame to be transferred averaged over an entire line time rather than being forced to sit idle during horizontal blanking followed by a higher peak data rate.
