13 claims: 3 independent, 10 dependent

  1. 1
A medical device system for managing a nervous system disorder and capable of detecting poor signal quality comprising:at least one monitoring element (101), each generating a neurological signal of a sensed neurological condition;a processor (701) for receiving the neurological signal(s);and computer executable instructions which, when executed by said processor, cause said processor to perform the following steps: receiving a neurological signal from one of the monitoring elements;processing the received signal to generate a plurality of data points for the signal in a moving time window;detecting that the received signal has poor signal quality by determining that a number of the data points exhibiting flat-lining within the moving time window has exceeded a first predetermined threshold;and removing the received signal experiencing poor signal quality from consideration in controlling a nervous system disorder therapy.
  2. 6
The system of any preceding claim, wherein the step of processing comprises the step of identifying a value of at least one variable quantifying signal quality.
  3. 12
The system of any of claims 1, 8 or 10, wherein two adjacent data points are indicative of flat-lining if the two adjacent data points are less than 2 bits of signal data precision from each other.
