Memory apparatus and writing device having such an apparatus

A data storage device (1) has a housing (2) and a pluggable interface device (3) for connection to an external data processing device. The interface device (3) is displaceable relative to the housing (2) between a rest position and a plug-in position. In the rest position, the interface device (3) in the housing (2) is housed protected. In the plug-in position, the interface device (3) protrudes from the housing (2) in such a way that it can be plugged into the data processing device. The result is a data storage device in which the interface device (3) can be protected without additional protective cap, even if it is not connected to the external data processing device.
