Abstract

A wireless device, method, and signal for use in communication of a wireless packet between transmitting device and a wireless receiving device via a plurality of antennas (txl to Tx4), wherein a signal generator generates wireless packet including a short-preamble sequence (101) used for a first automatic gain control (AGC), a first long-preamble sequence (102), a signal field (103 and 104) used for conveying a length of the wireless packet, an AGC preamble sequence (105A to 105D) used for a second AGC to be performed after the first AGC, a second long-preamble sequence (106A to 109A, 106B to 109B, 106C to 109C and 106D to 109D), and a data field conveying data (110A to 110D). The AGC preamble sequence (105A to 105D) is transmitted in parallel by the plurality of antennas (Tx1 to Tx4).

    A wireless transmitting device for use in communication with a wireless receiving device with a wireless packet, characterized by :a plurality of antennas (205A to 205D);and a signal generator (202) configured to generate a signal for the wireless packet being transmitted, the wireless packet comprising a short-preamble sequence (101) used for a first automatic gain control (1 st AGC) at the wireless receiving device, a first long-preamble sequence (102) used for an estimation of a channel impulse response between the wireless transmitting device and the wireless receiving device, a signal field (103 and 104) used for conveying information regarding a length of the wireless packet, an AGC preamble sequence (105A to 105D) used for a second automatic gain control (2 nd AGC) which is performed after the first automatic gain control at the receiving device, a second long-preamble sequence (106A to 109A, 106B to 109B, 106C to 109C and 106D to 109D) used for estimation of a channel impulse response between the wireless transmitting device and the wireless receiving device, and a data field conveying data (110A to 1110D),    wherein said AGC preamble sequence is transmitted in parallel via the plurality of antennas(205A to 205D).

    A wireless receiving device for use in communication with a wireless transmitting device with a wireless packet, characterized by comprising:a receiver (302A to 302D) configured to receive the wireless packet, the wireless packet comprising a short-preamble sequence (101) used for a first automatic gain control (AGC) at the wireless receiving device, a first long-preamble sequence (102) used for an estimation of a channel impulse response between the wireless transmitting device and the wireless receiving device, a signal field used (103 and 104) for conveying information regarding a length of the wireless packet, an AGC preamble sequence (105A to 105D) used for a second automatic gain control (AGC) which is performed after the first automatic gain control at the receiving device, a second long-preamble sequence (106A to 109A, 106B to 109B, 106C to 109C and 106D to 109D) used for estimation of a channel impulse response between the wireless transmitting device and the wireless receiving device, and a data field conveying data (110A to 110D) a variable gain amplifier (402) configured to amplify the signal received by the receiving unit (302A to 302D) ;and a gain controller (404) configured to control a gain of the variable gain amplifier (402) upon receiving the AGC preamble sequence.

    A wireless transmitting device, characterized by comprising:a plurality of antennas (205A to 205D);a signal provider (202 and 203) configured to provide a signal for a wireless packet including AGC preambles (105A to 105D) used for an automatic gain control (AGC) being performed at a reception side, the AGC preambles being formed by cyclic shifting temporal positions;and a transmitter (204A to 204D) configured to generate the wireless signal to be transmitted via the plurality of antennas (205A to 205D) and to transmit said AGC preambles (105A to 105D) in parallel via the plurality of antennas (205A to 205D).

    A wireless transmitting device, characterized by comprising:a plurality of antennas(205A to 205D);a signal provider (202 and 203) configured to provide a signal for a wireless packet including AGC preambles (105A to 105D) used for an automatic gain control (AGC) being performed at a reception side, the AGC preambles each include components having component-specific frequency domain characteristics;and a transmitter (204A to 204D) configured to generate the wireless signal to be transmitted via the plurality of antennas (205A to 205D) and to transmit said AGC preambles (105A to 105D) in parallel via the plurality of antennas.

    A wireless transmitting method at a wireless transmitting device for use in communication with a wireless receiving device with a wireless packet, characterized by comprising:generating a signal for the wireless packet being transmitted, the wireless packet comprising a short-preamble sequence (101) used for a first automatic gain control (AGC) at the wireless receiving device, a first long-preamble sequence (102) used for an estimation of a channel impulse response between the wireless transmitting device and the wireless receiving device, a signal field (103 and 104) used for conveying information regarding a length of the wireless packet, an AGC preamble sequence (105A to 105D) used for a second automatic gain control (AGC) which is performed after the first automatic gain control at the receiving device, a second long-preamble sequence (106A to 109A, 106B to 109B, 106C to 109C and 106D to 109D) used for estimation of a channel impulse response between the wireless transmitting device and the wireless receiving device, and a data field conveying data (110A to 110D);and transmitting said AGC preamble sequence (105a to 105D)in parallel via a plurality of antennas (205A to 205D).

    A wireless receiving method for use at a wireless receiving device in communication with a wireless transmitting device with a wireless packet, characterized by comprising:receiving the wireless packet, the wireless packet comprising a short-preamble sequence (101) used for a first automatic gain control (AGC) at the wireless receiving device, a first long-preamble sequence (102) used for an estimation of a channel impulse response between the wireless transmitting device and the wireless receiving device, a signal field (102 and 103) used for conveying information regarding a length of the wireless packet, an AGC preamble sequence (105A to 105D) used for a second automatic gain control (AGC) which is performed after the first automatic gain control at the wireless receiving device, a second long-preamble sequence (106A to 109A, 106B to 109B, 106C to 109C and 106D to 109D) used for estimation of a channel impulse response between the wireless transmitting device and the wireless receiving device, and a data field conveying data (110A to 110D);amplifying the received wireless packet at a variable gain amplifier;and controlling a gain of the variable gain amplifier by using the received AGC preamble sequence.

    A wireless receiving method for use at a wireless receiving device having a variable gain amplifier in communication with a wireless transmitting device with a wireless packet, characterized by comprising:receiving the wireless packet, the wireless packet comprising a short-preamble sequence (101) used for a first automatic gain control (AGC) step at the wireless receiving device, a first long-preamble sequence (102) used for an estimation of a channel impulse response between the wireless transmitting device and the wireless receiving device, a signal field (103 and 104) used for conveying information regarding a length of the wireless packet, an AGC preamble sequence (105A to 105D) used for a second automatic gain control (AGC) step which is performed after the first automatic gain control at the wireless receiving device, a second long-preamble sequence (106A to 109A, 106B to 109B, 106C to 109C and 106D to 109D) used for estimation of a channel impulse response between the wireless transmitting device and the wireless receiving device, and a data field conveying data (110A to 110D) ;performing the first automatic gain control step to set a gain of said variable gain amplifier, upon receiving the short-preamble sequence (101);and performing the second automatic gain control step, said second automatic gain control step including referring to the gain set in the first automatic gain control step.
