  2. 14
A control method of a storage system comprising a first disk array apparatus (20) communicably connected to a host computer (10) and a second disk array apparatus (40) communicably connected to the first disk array apparatus, the second disk array apparatus being incapable of establishing a direct connection with the host computer, in which data coming from the host computer is stored in a storage region as a result of addition of a storage region (42) of the second disk array apparatus to a storage region (31) of the first disk array apparatus, the control method comprising:a logical unit formation step of forming a plurality of logical units (102) from the storage region of the addition result to be accessed by the host computer (10);a data writing step of writing, to each of the logical units (102), data coming from the host computer (10) and/or the second disk array apparatus (40);a pair formation step of forming a pair between, out of the plurality of logical units (102), the logical unit formed from the storage region (31) of the first disk array apparatus (20) and the logical unit formed from the storage region (42) of the second disk array apparatus (40) on receipt of an instruction from said host computer (10);and a writing data copy step of, when the logical unit formed from the storage region (31) of the first disk array apparatus (20) is accessed by the host computer (10) for writing, copying writing data to the other logical unit forming the pair with the logical unit, wherein utilizing an interrelation between information about the plurality of logical units and information about the storage region as the addition result, the writing data copy step copies the writing data to any actual storage region of the second disk array apparatus (40);and the actual storage region of the second disk array apparatus (40), which corresponds to the logical unit of the copy destination forming said copy-pair state, is also accessible from a second host computer connected to the second disk array apparatus, characterized in that : the method further includes the steps of: a first check step of checking a validity of an instruction coming from the host computer (10) for forming a pair between, out of the plurality of logical units (102), the logical unit formed from the storage region (31) of the first disk array apparatus (20) and the logical unit formed from the storage region (42) of the second disk array apparatus (40), said pair formation step forming said pair when the first check step determines that the instruction from the host computer (10) is valid as a result of instruction check;and denying access from said second host computer when said second disk array apparatus (40) receives a SCSI reserve command issued from said first disk array apparatus (20) prior to said copying of writing data, and allowing access from said second host computer when said second disk array apparatus (40) does not receive said SCSI reserve command from said first disk array device (20).
  3. 16
A control method of a storage system comprising a first disk array apparatus (20) communicably connected to a host computer (10) and a second disk array apparatus (40) incapable of establishing a direct connection with the host computer, in which data coming from the host computer (10) is stored in a storage region as a result of addition of a storage region (42) of the second disk array apparatus (40) to a storage region (31) of the first disk array apparatus (20), the control method comprising:a logical unit formation step of forming a plurality of logical units (102) from the storage region of the addition result to be accessed by the host computer (10);a mapping table retention step at least including identifying information for a virtual device (101) derived by virtualizing the storage region (31) of the first disk array apparatus, and retaining a mapping table (Tm) showing an interrelation between the virtual device (101) and the storage region (42) of the second disk array apparatus (40) mapped to the virtual device;a search step of, when a data reading request including at least the identifying information for the virtual device (101) comes from the host computer (10), searching the mapping table (Tm) for a target virtual device based on the identifying information;a data transfer step of reading data from the virtual device found by the search step for transfer to the host computer (10);a check step of checking a validity of an instruction coming from the host computer (10) for forming a pair between, out of the plurality of logical units (102), the logical unit formed from the storage region (31) of the first disk array apparatus (20) and the logical unit formed from the storage region (42) of the second disk array apparatus (40);a pair formation step of forming the pair when the check step determines that the instruction from the host computer (10) is valid as a result of instruction check;and a writing data copy step of, when the logical unit formed from the storage region (31) of the first disk array apparatus (20) is accessed by the host computer (10) for writing, copying writing data to the other logical unit forming the pair with the logical unit, wherein utilizing an interrelation between information about the plurality of logical units (102) and information about the storage region as the addition result, the writing data copy step copies the writing data to any actual storage region of the second disk array apparatus (40);and the actual storage region of the second disk array apparatus (40), which corresponds to the logical unit of the copy destination forming said copy-pair state, is also accessible from a second host computer connected to the second disk array apparatus, characterized in that : the method further includes the steps of: denying access from said second host computer when said second disk array apparatus (40) receives a SCSI reserve command issued from said first disk array apparatus (20) prior to said copying of writing data, and allowing access from said second host computer when said second disk array apparatus (40) does not receive said SCSI reserve command from said first disk array device (20).
