Based on this reproduction, modification management information is generated by editing a content for managing content information in the information processing apparatus (400), and then recorded in the external medium. The external medium is mounted on the information processing apparatus (400) again so that the modification management-information is received by a modification management information receiving section to be recorded in the recording medium or the HD, while the content information is edited automatically based on the edited content of the modification management information. The content information can be managed based on the content edited by the portable information editing apparatus (300), thus the editing is executed easily and effectively.
