    Claims of equivalent WO 2004003690 A2 CLAIMS What is claimed is:1. A method employed in a cellular network having a plurality of routers and a gateway router, said method ensuring that internet protocol (IP) packets from a user equipment (UE) are routed by the gateway router to an end destination, comprising: said UE transmitting internet protocol version 6 (IPv6) packets to an access router, which is one of said plurality of routers, through a radio tower communicating with the UE;said UE providing the IP address of the gateway router in a routing header;and said access router sending user IP packets received from said UE to the gateway router responsive to information in the routing header.

    A method employed in a cellular network having a plurality of routers and a gateway router, said method ensuring that internet protocol (IP) packets from a user equipment (UE) are routed by the gateway router to an end destination comprising:said UE transmitting internet protocol version 6 (IPv6) packets to an access router, which is one of said plurality of routers, through a radio tower communicating with the UE;and said access router intercepting IPv6 packets from the UE and inserting the routing header to include the address of the Gateway Router.

    A method employed in a cellular network having a plurality of routers and a gateway router, said method ensuring that internet protocol (IP) packets from a user equipment (UE) are routed by the gateway router to an end destination, comprising:said UE transmitting internet protocol version 4 (IPv4) packets to an access router, which is one of said plurality of routers, through a radio tower communicating with the UE;and said access router intercepting IPv4 packets from the UE and translating to an IPv6 address and inserting the routing header to include the address of the Gateway Router.

    A method employed in a cellular network having a plurality of routers and a gateway router for ensuring that internet protocol version 6 (IPv6) packets are routed to a user equipment (UE from an end destination through the gateway router, comprising:said gateway router adding a routing header containing the IP address of an Access Router, which is one of the said plurality of routers, to incoming packets from the end destination;and said gateway router sending said received IPv6 packets to the access router.

    A method employed in a cellular network having a plurality of routers and a gateway router for ensuring that internet protocol version 4 (IPv4) packets are routed to a user equipment (UE) from an end destination through the gateway router, comprising:said gateway router translating the IPv4 address into an IPv6 address, adding a routing header containing the IP address of an Access Router, which is one of the said plurality of routers, to incoming packets from the end destination;and said gateway router sending said received IPv6 packets to the access router.

    A method employed in a cellular network having a plurality of routers and a gateway router, said method ensuring that internet protocol (IP) packets from a user equipment (UE) are routed by the gateway router to an end destination, comprising:said gateway router sending a message to the UE to include an address of at least one of the plurality of routers in a routing header;said UE transmitting internet protocol version 6 (IPv6) packets to an access router, which is one of said plurality of routers, through a radio tower communicating with the UE;and said UE providing the IP address of the gateway router and said at least one of the plurality of routers in the routing header.

    A method employed in one of a cellular network, WLAN network and radio network having a plurality of routers and a gateway router, said method insuring that internet protocol (IP) packets from a user equipment (UE) are routed by the gateway router to an end destination, comprising:said UE transmitting internet protocol version 6 (IPv6) packets to an access router which is one of said plurality of routers through a radio tower communicating with the UE;said UE providing the IP address of the gateway router in a routing header;and said access router sending user IP packets received from said UE to the gateway router responsive to information in the routing header.

    A routing method for use in an internet protocol (IP) cellular network having a gateway router and a plurality of routers utilized as intermediate nodes, comprising:the UE transmitting internet protocol (IP) packets employing internet protocol version 6 (IPv6) and specifying the internet protocol (IP) address of at least one intermediate router and a gateway router in a routing header;the UE transmitting said IP packets to one of the plurality of routers designated as an access router through a radio tower;said access router transmitting the IP packets received from the UE to an intermediate node whose address is in the routing header;and said intermediate node transmitting the IP packets to the gateway router responsive to the gateway router address provided in the routing header.

    A method employed in a cellular network having a plurality of routers and a gateway router for ensuring that internet protocol packets are routed to a user equipment (UE) from an end destination through the gateway router, comprising:said gateway router receiving incoming packets from the end destination, said packets having a routing header;said gateway router modifying the routing header and sending said received IP packets to an access router which is one of said plurality of routers;and said access router sending said IP packets received from the gateway router to the UE responsive to information in the routing header.

    Apparatus employed in a cellular network having a plurality of routers and a gateway router for insuring that internet protocol packets from a user equipment (UE) are routed by a gateway router to an end destination, comprising:said UE having means for transmitting internet protocol version 6 (IPv6) packets to a nearest router;said UE further having means providing the IP addresses of the gateway router in a routing header;and said nearest router having means for sending user IP packets received from said UE to the gateway router responsive to information in the routing header.

    Apparatus for use in an internet protocol (IP) cellular network having at least one user equipment (UE), a gateway router and a plurality of routers utilized as intermediate nodes, comprising:the UE having means for transmitting internet protocol (IP) packets employing internet protocol version 6 (IPv6) and specifying the internet protocol address of at least one intermediate router and a gateway router in a routing header;means for transmitting said IP packets from said UE to a nearest router;the said nearest router having means transmitting the IP packets received from the UE to an intermediate node whose address is in the routing header;and said intermediate node having means for transmitting the IP packets to the gateway router responsive to the gateway router address provided in the routing header.

    A cellular network having a plurality of routers and a gateway router for ensuring that internet protocol packets are routed to a user equipment (UE) from an end destination through the gateway router, comprising:said gateway router having means for adding a routing header to incoming packets from the end destination;said gateway router having further means for sending said received IP packets to an access router which is one of said plurality of routers;and said access router having means for sending said IP packets received from the gateway router to the UE responsive to information in the routing header.

    A system having at least one cellular network, WLAN network and radio network, the cellular network having a plurality of routers and a gateway router, and which ensure that internet protocol (IP) packets from a user equipment (UE) are routed by the gateway router to an end destination, comprising:said UE having means for transmitting internet protocol version 6 (IPv6) packets to an access router which is one of said plurality of routers through a radio tower communicating with the UE;said UE having further means for providing the IP address of the gateway router in a routing header;and said access router having means for sending user IP packets received from said UE to the gateway router responsive to information in the routing header.

    A system having at least one cellular network, WLAN network and radio network, the cellular network having a plurality of routers and a gateway router, and which ensure that internet protocol (IP) packets from a user equipment (UE) are routed by the gateway router to an end destination, comprising:said UE having means for transmitting internet protocol version (IPv4) packets to an access router which is one of said plurahty of routers through a radio tower communicating with the UE;said UE having further means for providing the IP address of the gateway router in a routing header;and said access router having means for sending user IP packets received from said UE to the gateway router responsive to information in the routing header.

    A method employed in a cellular network having a plurality of routers and a gateway router, said method ensuring that internet protocol (IP) packets from a user equipment (UE) are routed by the gateway router to an end destination, comprising:said network providing the UE with information of the IPv6 addresses of the gateway router and intermediate nodes;said UE transmitting internet protocol version 6 (IPv6) packets;and said UE providing the IP addresses of the gateway router and at least one intermediate node in the routing header responsive to the message from the gateway router.

    A method employed in a cellular network having a plurality of routers and a gateway router, said method ensuring that internet protocol (IP) packets from a user equipment (UE) are routed by the gateway router to an end destination, comprising:said UE transmitting internet protocol version 4 (IPv6) packets to an access router, which is one of said plurality of routers, through a radio tower communicating with the UE;and said access router performing address translation from (IPv4) to (IPv6) and providing an appropriate (IPv6) routing header.
