  1. 1
Claims of equivalent WO 2004004181 A2 WHAT IS CLAIMED IS:1. A transmit port, comprising: a framer adapted for producing a sequence of frames;and wherein at least one frame of the sequence of frames is apportioned into at least one frame segment containing a plurality of bytes of data immediately preceded by a coding violation within the frame segment to indicate the beginning of the bytes of data.
  2. 14
A receive port, comprising:a decoder adapted to receive a plurality of bytes of data within a frame segment of one frame of a sequence of frames;and wherein the plurality of bytes of data is preceded by a coding violation within the frame segment to indicate the beginning of the plurality of bytes of data.
  3. 27
A communication system, comprising:a transmitter configured to sample a continuous stream of data at a first rate and place a portion of the continuous stream of data within a segment of a frame of data having a signaling bit which indicates an amount of the segment occupied by said portion of the continuous stream;a transmission medium coupled to the transmitter for transmitting the frame segment at a second rate dissimilar from the first rate;and a receiver coupled to the transmission medium for forwarding to a multimedia device the amount of the segment occupied by the portion of the continuous stream.
  4. 31
A communication system, comprising:a transmitter configured to sample a continuous stream of data at a first rate and place a portion of the continuous stream of data within a first segment of a frame of data followed by a sequence of coding violation that indicate a lapse in the continuous stream of data and thereafter followed by another portion of the continuous stream of data;a transmission medium coupled to the transmitter for transmitting the frame segment at a second rate dissimilar from the first rate;and a receiver coupled to the transmission medium for forwarding to a multimedia device the portion of the continuous stream of data followed by the another portion of the continuous stream of data whereby the receiver recognizes the coding violation as containing no data or invalid data between the portion of continuous stream of data and the another portion of the continuous stream of data.
