Method and instruments for positioning humeral component during shoulder arthroplasty

The present invention relates to a set of tools and accessories used for properly positioning a stemmed humeral component (10), and/or a humeral stem provisional (22), within a canal in the humerus (18). The set of tools and accessories includes one or more fin clamps (60) that are configured to be temporarily attached to a fin (32) on the humeral component (10) or the provisional (22); a ruler (94) that is configured to be attached to the arm (64) of the fin clamp (60), a fixation pin (96) and pin driver (98) configured to be used with the other tools for marking a position on the humerus (18); and one or more sleeves (25) that are configured to slide over the stem (24) of the humeral stem provisional (22) to maintain it in the desired position.
