Method of production of a cast part made out of a composite material, as a cast part consisting out of a ceramic or glass composite

A method is known for the production of a casting from a composite material by slip casting, comprising providing a composite slurry containing material particles in the size range below 10 μm and material grain size range above 10 μm, homogenizing the composite slurry, casting the composite slurry into a mold forming a blue body, drying the blue body to form a porous green body, and thermally solidifying the green body. In order to reduce the disadvantages associated with the drying shrinkage on this basis, it is proposed according to the invention that the composite slip having a solids content of at least 80% by weight is poured into a mold which has a liquid-impermeable mold wall, wherein the composite slip after casting is cooled to a cooling temperature below the freezing point of the liquid to form a frozen blue body, and wherein the drying comprises heating the frozen blue body to a heating temperature below the boiling temperature of the liquid. A casting produced by the process according to the invention is characterized by a homogeneous distribution of pores and density as well as high strength.
