7 claims: 1 independent, 6 dependent

  1. 1
A method for decoding coded data, said method comprising:decoding coded data (Bitstream4) to obtain a decoded picture (Recon) with or without using a predictive picture (Pred), wherein the predictive picture (Pred) is generated by referring to a reference picture (Ref);characterized by filtering the decoded picture (Recon), dependent upon information (FilterType5) indicating whether the decoding of the coded data (Bitstream4) was performed with using the predictive picture (Pred) or without using the predictive picture (Pred);and storing the decoded picture (Filteredlmg5), which is filtered, for use as a reference picture (Ref) to decode a following coded data (Bitstream4).
  2. 2
The decoding method according to Claim 1, wherein the information (FilterType5) indicating whether the decoding of the coded data was performed with or without using the predictive picture (Pred) comprises at least one of a slice coding type indicating whether the coding with or without the predictive picture (Pred) is performed per slice, and a picture coding type indicating whether the coding with or without the predictive picture (Pred) is performed per picture.
  3. 3
The decoding method according to Claim 1, wherein the information (FilterType5) indicating whether the decoding of the coded data was performed with or without using the predictive picture (Pred) comprises at least one of a macroblock coding type indicating whether the coding with or without the predictive picture (Pred) is performed per macroblock, and a block coding type indicating whether the coding with or without the predictive picture (Pred) is performed per block.
  4. 4
The decoding method according to Claim 1, wherein the decoding of the coded data with using the predictive picture (Pred) includes at least one of predictive decoding and bi-predictive decoding, and wherein the information indicating whether the decoding of the coded data was performed with or without using the predictive picture (Pred) comprises information indicating at least one of the following:the decoding was performed without using the predictive picture, the predictive decoding was performed with using the predictive picture (Pred), and the bi-predictive decoding was performed with using the predictive picture (Pred).
  5. 5
The decoding method according to Claim 1, wherein the information indicating whether the decoding of the coded data was performed with or without using the predictive picture is extracted from a slice header (902), and wherein the decoded picture (Recon) is filtered per slice, dependent upon the extracted information (FilterType5).
  6. 6
The decoding method according to Claim 1, wherein the information indicating whether the decoding of the coded data was performed with or without using the predictive picture (Pred) is extracted from a picture header, and wherein the decoded picture (Recon) is filtered per picture, dependent upon the extracted information (FilterType5).
  7. 7
The decoding method according to Claim 1, wherein a smoothing level of the filtering performed when the decoded picture is obtained by decoding the coded data without using the predictive picture (Pred) is higher than a smoothing ievei of the filtering performed when the decoded picture (Recon) is obtained by decoding the coded data with using the predictive picture (Pred).
