  2. 4
    The method according to any of the preceding claims, further comprising selecting an access point (204, 206, 208, 210, 212;224, 226, 228, 230, 232) from said plurality of access points (204, 206, 208, 210, 212;224, 226, 228, 230, 232) having a least load.
  3. 5
A machine-readable storage, having stored thereon a computer program having at least one code section for providing load management in a hybrid wired/wireless local area network (200; 300), said local area network (200; 300) comprising a first and a second switch (202, 222; 306, 308) serving a first and a second network domain (214, 234), respectively, each switch having wired connections to a plurality of access points (204, 206, 208, 210, 212; 224, 226, 228, 230, 232) in its domain, said access points (204, 206, 208, 210, 212; 224, 226, 228, 230, 232) being adapted to establish wireless connections to a plurality of access devices (322-338), said at least one code section executable by a machine for causing said machine to perform the steps comprising:receiving at least one polling message from one of said access devices (322-338) by at least one of a plurality of access points (204, 206, 208, 210, 212;224, 226, 228, 230, 232);sending said received at least one polling message from said at least one of a plurality of access points (204, 206, 208, 210, 212;224, 226, 228, 230, 232) to its corresponding switch (202, 222;306, 308) using a messaging protocol message;receiving said at least one polling message by said corresponding switch;and responsive to said at least one polling message, determining a load on each one of said plurality of access points (204, 206, 208, 210, 212;224, 226, 228, 230, 232) of both first and second network domains (214, 234), wherein the load information of said access points (204, 206, 208, 210, 212;224, 226, 228, 230, 232) of said first and second domain is communicated between said switches using said messaging protocol message.
  4. 8
A system for providing network management in a hybrid wired/wireless local area network (200; 300), said local area network (200; 300) comprising a first and a second switch (202, 222; 306, 308) serving a first and a second network domain (214, 234), respectively, each switch having wired connections to a plurality of access points (204, 206, 208, 210, 212; 224, 226, 228, 230, 232) in its domain, said access points (204, 206, 208, 210, 212; 224, 226, 228, 230, 232) being adapted to establish wireless connections to a plurality of access devices (322-338), said system comprising:at least one receiver (406) being adapted to receive at least one polling message from one of said access devices (322-338) over at least one of a plurality of access points (204, 206, 208, 210, 212;224, 226, 228, 230, 232);at least one transmitter (404) being adapted to send said received at least one polling message from said at least one of a plurality of access points (204, 206, 208, 210, 212;224, 226, 228, 230, 232) to its corresponding switch (202, 222;306, 308) using a messaging protocol message;said at least one receiver (406) being further adapted to receive said at least one polling message by said corresponding switch;and at least one controller (412) being adapted to determine a load on each one of said plurality of access points (204, 206, 208, 210, 212;224, 226, 228, 230, 232) of both first and second network domains (214, 234) in response to said at least one polling message;said at least one transmitter (404) being adapted to communicate said load information of said access points (204, 206, 208, 210, 212;224, 226, 228, 230, 232) of said first and second domain between said switches using said messaging protocol message.
