Electromagnetic relay

An electromagnetic relay (10) including a base (12) including a receptacle (24), an electromagnetic assembly (14) incorporated in the base, and a contact section (16) incorporated in the base to be actuated by the electromagnetic assembly. The contact section (16) includes a fixed contact member (40, 42) located away from the electromagnetic assembly at least a predetermined insulating distance, and a movable contact member (44) located opposite to the fixed contact member at a position further away from the electromagnetic assembly than the fixed contact member. The fixed contact member is provided with a fixed contact portion (46), a first terminal portion (48), a fitting portion (50) arranged between the fixed contact portion (46) and the first terminal portion (48), the fitting portion (50) being fitted and inserted in a lateral direction into the receptacle (24) of the base (12), and an extending portion arranged between the fitting portion and the first terminal portion (48), the extending portion extending to be exposed outside from the receptacle. The movable contact member (44) is provided with a movable contact portion (52) capable of contacting with the fixed contact portion (46) of the fixed contact member (46, 42), and a second terminal portion (54) spaced from the first terminal portion (48) of the fixed contact member. The extending portion (66) of the fixed contact member is shaped and dimensioned to ensure at least the insulating distance and to maintain a predetermined terminal pitch between the first terminal portion (48) of the fixed contact member and the second terminal portion (54) of the movable contact member.
