Method and apparatus for transmitting data traffic on a wireless communication channel

Abstract

A method and apparatus for transmitting data in a channel of a wireless communication system are described. A data payload destined for a remote station is packaged into a plurality of subpackets. A velocity determination of the remote station is performed and if the remote station is slow or stationary, the plurality of subpackets is transmitted sequentially in accordance with channel conditions. If it is determined that the remote station is neither slow nor stationary, the plurality of subpackets is sequentially transmitted in accordance with predetermined delays. Preferably, the velocity determination may be updated.

  1. 1
A method for transmitting data in a channel of a wireless communication system, the method comprising:packaging a data payload into a plurality of subpackets, wherein the data payload is destined for a remote station (12);performing (41) a velocity determination of the remote station (12);if the velocity of the remote station (12) is slow or stationary, then transmitting (42) the plurality of subpackets sequentially in accordance with channel conditions;and    if the velocity of the remote station (12) is neither slow nor stationary, then transmitting (40) the plurality of subpackets sequentially in accordance with predetermined delays.
  2. 3
Apparatus for transmitting data in a channel of a wireless communication system, the apparatus comprising:means for packaging a data payload into a plurality of subpackets, wherein the data payload is destined for a remote station (12);means for performing (41) a velocity determination of the remote station (12);andmeans for receiving the plurality of subpackets and the velocity determination of the remote station (12), and further for: if the velocity of the remote station (12) is slow or stationary, then transmitting (42) the plurality of subpackets sequentially in accordance with channel conditions;andif the velocity of the remote station (12) is neither slow nor stationary, then transmitting (40) the plurality of subpackets sequentially in accordance with predetermined delays.
