0001The invention relates to an orthosis with at least one retaining band to Application to the body of a patient, in particular on arms or legs a patient is determined.
0002An example of such a brace is disclosed in EP 0916325 A1 Karpaltunnelorthese described. In carpal tunnel syndrome occurs due to nerve entrapment in the wrist area to Numbness and pain of the thumb, the index finger and the Middle finger of the affected hand. One possible therapy is the Immobilization of the wrist with a splint, a so-called Karpaltunnelorthese as it described in the mentioned publication becomes. These, as well as other orthoses are at using tethers Body, here on the wrist and the palm, fixed. Here are either rigid or pre-bent flexible tethers and / or Holding means with plastic and / or metal inserts or retaining straps used from textile materials usually with Velcro to be connected together.
0003The invention is based on the object, an orthosis of the above to create the type mentioned, which can be particularly easy to create.
0004This object is effected by an orthosis having the features of Patent claim 1. Advantageous developments of the invention are in the Subclaims.
0005is essential to the invention that the tether of the orthosis a biased, comprising profiled metal rail, which is designed so that the tether of Bias of the metal rail following from a first extended position can change in a second fitting on the patient's body position.
0006The elongated shape is substantially achieved or maintained by that disposed in the retaining band in the metal bar by the profile predetermined position is maintained. in case some pressure the metal rail, in particular in the end regions, leaving the Metal rail its profiled shape and can then follow the bias, which is oriented opposite to the profile, and ring- itself or circularly to the body of the patient, especially to an arm or a Leg, or edit.
0007The biased, profiled metal rail is preferably made of spring steel, hard-rolled aluminum, beryllium or a comparable Material. It is important on the one hand that the metal rail can bias and on the other hand, that a profile is introduced, the Profile and the bias voltage are formed in opposite directions. The metal bar is preferably biased such that it is the Bias turns up following a ring. It need not be a full or closed ring action, but preference is given to Metal rail of such a length that it to the limb to comprehensive about 2/3 embraces. In a preferred embodiment of the invention is the Tether together with a fastened to the tether strap used so that the strap together with the on hook and loop fasteners it can be fastened belt into a closed ring can be closed, the closes around an arm or leg of the patient.
0008The metal rail is at least on the side facing the patient with a soft material, in particular an elastomeric material, a Foam or a textile material covered. Preferably, the Metal rail movable in a closed pocket of the Metal rail surrounding material arranged. This can be an elastomeric, a foam-like or even be a textile material. By Mobility within this bag ensures that the bias the metal rail when applying the orthosis used comes without by with the metal rail bonded pads to be hindered.
0009In a particularly preferred embodiment of the invention, the orthosis designed as Karpaltunnelorthese. The Karpaltunnelorthese distinguished in particular by two part-circular straps with preloaded, profiled metal rails for flexible conformation to a forearm of a Patients. The straps are preferably on a rigid rail arranged, which is intended to bear against the Arminnenseite. It gives thereby a cross shape with second crossbar or the form a great T's, in which in the center an additional transom is provided. The middle rail is rigid, while the two Retaining bands are initially in the extended position, but upon leaving the profile shape, the bias of the metal rails following flexibly Creating the patient's forearm. The rigid bar has, at one End a first transverse to the rail holding band, such as in A second middle transverse to the rail tether and the second End a supplementary attachment for an order to Palm extending to flexible tether. Using these three Tethers the wrist is immobilized.
0010Preferably, the rigid rail in the arm area is substantially straight and the hand-side end portion with a himself into the palm extending bulge formed. The rigid rail is also preferably in the hand-side end portion of circular area expanded. So it is an arched in the palm area in extension provided on of the patient's hand rests and the kinking or Bending the hand inward prevented.
0011The invention will be with reference to an illustrated in the drawings preferred embodiment further explained. In detail, the schematics in:

Fig. 1:

a top view of an inventive Karpaltunnelorthese with the retaining bands in the extended Position;

Fig. 2:

a Karpaltunnelorthese invention with is bent tethers;

Fig. 3:

an applied Karpaltunnelorthese in a first View;

Fig. 4:

the Karpaltunnelorthese according to FIG. 3 in a View of the Arminnenseite; and

Fig. 5:

a view of a metal rail for use in the orthosis according to the invention.

0012In Fig. 1 is an orthosis 1, a Karpaltunnelorthese shown here. The Karpaltunnelorthese has a central rigid rail 2, at the two are retaining straps 3 and 4 are arranged perpendicular to the rail. 2 The Retaining straps 3 and 4 are used for conditioning and fastening the orthosis 1 am Forearm of a patient. In the hand-side end region 5 of the rail 2 is a flexible tether 6 provided to the palm of the patient is placed. In the end region 5 of the rail 2, the rail 2 is upward arched and widens surface in a circular end portion 11, the is begin to see, however, is partially obscured by the strap. 6 This circular end is domed in the palm into it, so to give a curved inside in the palm support surface on the the hand is supported and prevents kinking of the hand. The rigid Rail 2 and the support straps 3 and 4 have their outer sides throughout an elastomeric material. Inside the rigid rail 2 a rigid metal or plastic element is provided, and in the Retaining bands 3 and 4 are provided in the interior of metal rails which a exhibit bias to a ring-like rolling up the straps cause the center. Since the metal rails in the holding belts 3 and 4 are profiled, it is possible this to the position shown in Fig. 1 bring.
0013In FIG. 2, the orthosis 1 is shown with bent retaining bands 3 and 4. At the end portions of the retaining straps 3 and 4 are adhesive elements 8 provided at which straps illustrated in the figures 3 and 4, 9 and 10 can be fastened, in particular by means of Velcro fasteners attachable are such that the tethers along with the belts one by one arm form or another limb of a patient closed ring can.
0014In Fig. 3 a top view is shown to an applied orthosis, wherein in particular belts are 9 and 10 in the hand region, wherein the belt 9 to the adhesive elements 8 of the strap 3 and the belt 10 to the Adhesive elements 8 of the strap 4 is attached, so that in this way each a closed ring. The holding belt 6 to the hand side end of the orthosis 1 is fixed, runs around the Palm above the thumb.
0015In FIG. 4, the Arminnenseite is shown with the applied orthosis. Here It is clear that the rigid rail 2 is disposed on the Arminnenseite, wherein the hand-side end of the rail 2 upwards in the palm is in arched.
0016In Fig. 5 is a perspective view of a metal bar 12 is shown, which is inserted into one of the straps 3 and fourth The metal rail 2 has while a profile or a buckle, which in the figure an upwardly open Channel forms. Due to this profile of the metal rail 12, the Metal rail 12 stably in the position shown. By applying gentle Pressure on the metal rail 12, in which the rail of the profile shape is bent, the profile loses its stabilizing effect, and Metal rail is then in accordance with its bias towards the arrow 13 roll.
