  1. 1
A method of controlling access to one or more media files, the method comprising:receiving a first request for access to a first media file, the first request comprising: a first end user identifier identifying a first end user (102) making the first request;a first end user processor identifier identifying a first end user processor from which the first end user (102) made the request;and a first media player identifier identifying a first media player from which the first end user (102) made the request;granting the first request;associating the first end user identifier, the first end user processor identifier and the first media player identifier;receiving a second request for access to a second media file, the second request comprising: a second end user identifier identifying a second end user making the second request;a second end user processor identifier identifying a second end user processor from which the second end user made the request;and a second media player identifier identifying a second media player from which the second end user made the request;and either granting the second request if: the first end user identifier matches the second end user identifier;the first end user processor identifier matches the second end user processor identifier;and the first media player identifier matches the second media player identifier;or denying the second request if: the first end user identifier matches the second end user identifier;the first end user processor identifier matches the second end user processor identifier;and the first media player identifier does not match the second media player identifier.
  2. 2
The method of Claim 1, further comprising:setting a number of end user processors from which access to the media files is permissible;and storing an indication of each end user processor from which requests are made until the number of indications equals the permissible number of end user processors, wherein the first request is granted if: the first end user processor corresponds to a stored indication, or the number of stored indications is less than the permissible number of end user processors;and wherein the first request is denied if: the first end user processor does not correspond to a stored indication, and the number of stored indications exceeds the permissible number of end user processors.
  3. 3
The method of Claim 2, wherein the second request is denied if the second end user processor does not correspond to a stored indication, and the number of stored indications exceeds the permissible number of end user processors.
  4. 4
The method of Claim 2, wherein the one or more media files are associated with one or more media events, wherein each event has an associated number of end user processors from which access to the media files is permissible, and wherein the first request corresponds to a given event, the method further comprising:setting, for the given event, a number of end user processors from which access to the media files is permissible, storing, for each end user processor identifier stored, an identifier of an event associated with the stored end user processor identifier, wherein the first request is granted if: the first end user processor corresponds to a stored indication for the given event, or the number of stored indications for the given event is less than the permissible number of end user processors;and wherein the first request is denied if: the first end user processor does not correspond to a stored indication for the given event, and the number of stored indications exceeds the permissible number of end user processors for the given event.
  5. 5
The method of Claim 2, wherein the one or more media files are associated with one or more media events, and wherein the number of end user processors from which access to the media files is permissible is a total across the one or more media events.
  6. 6
A computer readable medium comprising computer code for controlling access to one or more media files, the computer code instructing at least one server processor (104) to:receive a first request for access to a first media file, the first request comprising: a first end user identifier identifying a first end user (102) making the first request;a first end user processor identifier identifying a first end user processor from which the first end user (102) made the request;and a first media player identifier identifying a first media player from which the first end user (102) made the request;grant the first request;associate the first end user identifier, the first end user processor identifier and the first media player identifier;receive a second request for access to a second media file, the second request comprising: a second end user identifier identifying a second end user making the second request;a second end user processor identifier identifying a second end user processor from which the second end user made the request;and a second media player identifier identifying a second media player from which the second end user made the request;and either grant the second request if: the first end user identifier matches the second end user identifier;the first end user processor identifier matches the second end user processor identifier;and the first media player identifier matches the second media player identifier;or deny the second request if: the first end user identifier matches the second end user identifier;the first end user processor identifier matches the second end user processor identifier;and the first media player identifier does not match the second media player identifier.
  7. 7
The computer readable medium of Claim 6, the computer code further instructing the at least one server processor to:set a number of end user processors from which access to the media files is permissible;and store an indication of each end user processor from which requests are made until the number of indications equals the permissible number of end user processors, wherein the first request is granted if: the first end user processor corresponds to a stored indication, or the number of stored indications is less than the permissible number of end user processors;and wherein the first request is denied if: the first end user processor does not correspond to a stored indication, and the number of stored indications exceeds the permissible number of end user processors.
  8. 8
The computer readable medium of Claim 7, wherein the second request is denied if the second end user processor does not correspond to a stored indication, and the number of stored indications exceeds the permissible number of end user processors.
  9. 9
The computer readable medium of Claim 7, wherein the one or more media files are associated with one or more media events, wherein each event has an associated number of end user processors from which access to the media files is permissible, and wherein the first request corresponds to a given event, the computer code further instructing the at least one server processor to:set, for the given event, a number of end user processors from which access to the media files is permissible;and store, for each end user processor identifier stored, an identifier of an event associated with the stored end user processor identifier, wherein the first request is granted if: the first end user processor corresponds to a stored indication for the given event, or the number of stored indications for the given event is less than the permissible number of end user processors;and wherein the first request is denied if: the first end user processor does not correspond to a stored indication for the given event, and the number of stored indications exceeds the permissible number of end user processors for the given event.
