Air bag apparatus for motorcycle

Abstract

In order to provide an air bag apparatus corresponding to the motions found in motorcycle accidents, in an air bag apparatus (111) having an air bag (121) and provided on a motorcycle (100), the air bag (121) includes a first expansion part (123) which is expanded toward a rider protection region (151) which is formed above a body constituent part of the motorcycle (100) and in front of the motorcycle rider in the case of the forward collision of the motorcycle (100); and a second expansion part (125) which is expanded toward a rider protection region at pitching (153) which is formed in front of the motorcycle rider (101) in the pitching of the motorcycle (100) around a front wheel (141) due to the forward collision of the motorcycle (100).

  1. 1
An air bag apparatus (111; 211; 311) for a motorcycle (100; 200; 300), having an air bag (121; 221; 321) and provided on a motorcycle (100; 200; 300), wherein the air bag (121; 221; 321) comprises:a first expansion part (123;223;323) which is expanded toward a rider protection region (151) of the motorcycle (100;200;300), which is formed in front of the motorcycle rider (101) and above a body constituent part (131), in the case of a forward collision of the motorcycle (100;200;300);and a second expansion part (125;225;325) which is expanded toward the rider protection region (151) of the motorcycle (100;200;300) when pitching forward and which is formed in front of the motorcycle rider (101) when the motorcycle (100;200;300) pitches forward with respect to a front wheel (141) of the motorcycle (100;200;300) due to a forward collision of the motorcycle (100;200;300).
  2. 2
The air bag apparatus (111;211;311) for a motorcycle (100;200;300) according to Claim 1, wherein the second expansion part (125;225;325) is expanded perpendicularly to the forward movement direction of the rider (101) when the motorcycle (100;200;300) pitches forward.
  3. 3
The air bag apparatus (111;211;311) for a motorcycle (100;200;300) according to Claim 1 or 2, wherein the second expansion part (125;225;325) is expanded perpendicularly to the forward movement direction of the rider (101) towards the head (102) or shoulder portion (202) of the rider (101) when the motorcycle (100;200;300) pitches forward.
  4. 4
An air bag apparatus (211;311) for a motorcycle (200;300), wherein the second expansion part ( 225;325) of the air bag apparatus (211;311) for the motorcycle (200;300) in any one of Claims 1 to 3 is'extended and expanded toward the side portion of the rider (101) on the motorcycle (200;300).
  5. 5
A motorcycle (100;200;300) with an air bag apparatus (111;211;311), wherein the air bag apparatus (111;211;311) described in any one of Claims 1 to 4 is used to restrict the forward movement of the rider (101) on the motorcycle (100;200;300) by inflating an air bag (121;221;321) in the case of a forward collision of the motorcycle (100;200;300), to thereby protect the rider (101).
  6. 6
A method of manufacturing an air bag apparatus (111;211;311) provided on a motorcycle (100;200;300), the method comprising the step of forming an air bag (121;221;321) including a first expansion part (123;223;323) which is expanded toward a rider protection region (151) of the motorcycle (100), which is formed in front of the motorcycle rider (101) and above a body constituent part (131), in the case of a forward collision of the motorcycle (100;200;300);and a second expansion part (125;225;325) which is expanded toward the rider protection region (151) of the motorcycle (100;200;300) when pitching forward and which is formed in front of the motorcycle rider (101) when the motorcycle (100;200;300) pitches forward with respect to a front wheel (141) of the motorcycle (100;200;300) due to a forward collision of the motorcycle (100;200;300).
