  1. 1
A method for determining triggering of a packet data convergence protocol hereinafter called PDCP, sequence number synchronization procedure in a wireless device (40), the wireless device supporting lossless serving radio network subsystem, hereinafter called SRNS (20s), relocation and utilizing a multi-layered protocol that includes:a radio resource control, hereinafter called RRC (101), layer for establishing and configuring radio links according to a plurality of RRC procedures;a PDCP layer (102) for transferring user data between users of PDCP services to generate corresponding PDCP protocol data units, hereinafter called PDUs;and a radio link control, hereinafter called RLC (103), layer for segmenting the PDCP PDUs for a medium access control, hereinafter called MAC (74), layer;the method is characterized by the steps of: checking if any of the executing RRC procedures contains a SRNS (20s) relocation procedure;and if the RRC (101) procedure triggers a SRNS (20s) relocation procedure, then triggering a PDCP (102) sequence number synchronization procedure only if a next expected Uplink/Downlink, hereinafter called UL/DL, Receive PDCP sequence number invalidity event is detected during the SRNS relocation procedure;and if the RRC (101) procedure does not contain a SRNS (20s) relocation procedure, then the PDCP (102) sequence number synchronization procedure is triggered only if a RLC (103) entity of a PDCP (102) entity is re-established in response to the RRC (101) procedure, or if a PDCP (102) header compression protocol of the PDCP (102) entity is changed in response to the RRC procedure.
  2. 8
A wireless device (40) supporting lossless serving radio network subsystem, hereinafter called SRNS (20s), relocation and comprising a packet data convergence protocol, hereinafter called PDCP, re-synchronization module (101r) for performing:characterized in that , the module (101r) is designed for performing: checking if execution of a radio resource control, hereinafter called RRC (101), procedure by the wireless device (40) contains a SRNS (20s) relocation procedure;if the RRC (101) procedure contains a SRNS (20s) relocation procedure, triggering the PDCP (102) sequence number synchronization procedure only if a next expected Uplink/Downlink, hereinafter called UL/DL Receive PDCP sequence number invalidity event is detected during the SRNS (20s) relocation procedure;and if the RRC (101) procedure does not contain a SRNS (20s) relocation procedure, triggering the PDCP (102) sequence number synchronization procedure only if a radio link control, hereinafter called RLC (103), entity of a PDCP (102) entity is re-established in response to the RRC (101) procedure, or if a PDCP (102) header compression protocol of the PDCP (102) entity is changed in response to the RRC (101) procedure.
