  1. 1
A process for preparing an end termination (36) for use with a reclosable polymeric bag, the process comprising:providing a mixture from 100% wt.% (weight %) in sum, including a polyolefin, heating the mixture to its approximate application temperature;injecting the mixture into a mold (40;42) and encompassing a reclosable zipper (22) on the bag;cooling the mixture to form the end termination;and ejecting the end termination from the mold (40;42), characterised in that said mixture comprising from 70 to 95 wt.% (weight %) of said polyolefin, from 5 to 25 wt.% hydrocarbon tackifier, from 0.01 to 2 wt.% mold release agent, from 0.01 to 0.3 wt.% primary antioxidant, and at least 0.03 wt.% secondary antioxidant, wherein the mixture at 176,7°C (350°F) has a viscosity from 9,5 Ns/m 2 to 30 Ns/m 2 (9500 cps to 30000 cps).
  2. 2
The process according to at least one of the above claims, wherein the polyolefin is polyethylene, polypropylene, or combinations thereof.
  3. 3
The process according to at least one of the above claims, wherein the polyolefin is low density polyethylene, ethyl vinyl acetate, or combinations thereof.
  4. 4
The process according to at least one of the above claims, wherein each of the mold release agent, the hydrocarbon, and the primary and secondary antioxidants have a melting point between 148,9°C to 226,7°C (200 to 440°F).
  5. 5
The process according to at least one of the above claims, wherein the primary antioxidant is pentaerythritol tetrakis (3-(3,5-di-tert-butyl-4-hydroxyphenyl)propionate or octadecyl 3 -(3,5-di-tert-butyl-4-hydroxphenyl)propionate.
  6. 6
The process according to at least one of the above claims, wherein the secondary antioxidant is bis(2,4-di-t-butylphenyl) pentaerythritol diphosphite or tris(nonylphenyl) phosphite.
  7. 7
The process according to at least one of the above claims, wherein the mixture at 176,7°C (350°F) has a viscosity from 20 to 30 Ns/m 2 (20,000 to 30,000 cps).
  8. 8
The process according to at least one of the above claims, wherein the mixture meets the requirements of the ball and ring test as defined by ASTM D 445 at 104,4°C (220°F).
  9. 9
The process according to at least one of the above claims, wherein the mixture further comprises from 0.15 to 3 wt.% whitener.
  10. 10
The process according to at least one of the above claims, wherein the whitener is titanium dioxide.
  11. 11
The process according to at least one of the above claims, wherein the mixture is comprised of from 80 to 95 wt.% polyolefin, from 8 to 15 wt.% hydrocarbon tackifier, from 0.15 to 1 wt.% whitener, from 0.15 to 1 wt.% mold release agent, from 0.1 to 0.3 wt.% primary antioxidant, and from 0.06 to 0.1 wt.% secondary antioxidant.
  12. 12
The process according to at least one of the above claims, wherein the process is completed within one second.
  13. 13
The process according to at least one of the above claims, wherein the process is completed within about 250 to about 700 ms.
  14. 14
An end termination from 100% wt.% (weight %) in sum, including a polyolefin, for use at opposing ends of a bag including a reclosable zipper (22) and a slider the end termination inhibiting the slider from being removed from the bag characterised in comprising from 70 to 95 wt.% of said polyolefin, from 5 to 25 wt.% hydrocarbon tackifier, from 0.01 to 2 wt.% mold release agent, from 0.01 to 0.3 wt.% primary antioxidant, and at least about 0.03 wt.% secondary antioxidant, wherein the mixture at 176,7°C (350°F) has a viscosity from 9,5 Ns/m 2 to 30 Ns/m 2 (9500 cps to 30000 cps).
