Fluid simulating the rheological properties of biological fluids

Abstract

Liquid that imitates the rheological properties of blood, useful as calibration and as a standardizing reagent, comprising polymeric microparticles and viscoelastic, is new. Liquid (A) which imitates the rheological properties of a biofluid, especially blood, is an aqueous suspension of plastic microparticles (MP) that also contains: (i) an agent (I) for keeping MP in suspension; (ii) a viscoelastic fluid (II) to impart a non-Newtonian viscosity; and (iii) a salt (III) to impart a physiological electrolyte concentration.
