Abstract

A musical tone data communications system having a unit (2) for generating MIDI data of a musical performance by a player, a unit (4) for transmitting the generated MIDI data over a communications network (7,12a,12b,12c...) and a unit (9) for receiving the transmitted MIDI data and reproducing musical tones corresponding to the MIDI data in real time.

    A musical tone data communication apparatus, comprising:receiving means (30) for receiving performance data for production of musical tone;packet means (3) for packetizing the performance data into data blocks (41, 42);and transmitting means (29) for transmitting the data blocks (41, 42) to a communication network (32), wherein said communication network (32) includes a plurality of proxy servers, and each of said proxy servers is capable of changing connection depending on communication traffic in the communication network (32) (32).

    A musical tone data communication apparatus, comprising:receiving means (30) for receiving performance data for production of musical tone;packet means (3) for packetizing the performance data into data blocks (41, 42);and transmitting means (29) for transmitting the data blocks (41, 42) to a communication network (32), to which a plurality of users are connected, the transmitting means (29) transmitting different data to different users.
