Vertically-aligned (VA) liquid crystal display device

Abstract

A liquid crystal display device is provided which comprises a first substrate (17) and a second substrate (16) for sandwiching a liquid crystal having a negative dielectric constant anisotropy; and first (20B) and second (20A) domain regulating means for regulating azimuths of orientations of said liquid crystal when a voltage is applied to said liquid crystal. When vertically seen to the substrates (17, 16), said first and second domain regulating means (20B, 20A) are arranged on said substrates (17, 16) so that said first domain regulating means (20B) substantially surrounds said second domain regulating means (20A) in the display areas of the pixels.

  1. 1
A liquid crystal display device comprising:a first substrate and a second substrate for sandwiching a liquid crystal having a negative dielectric constant' anisotropy;and first and second domain regulating means for regulating azimuths of orientations of said liquid crystal when a voltage is applied to said liquid crystal, wherein when vertically seen to the substrates, said first and second domain regulating means are arranged on said substrates so that said first domain regulating means substantially surrounds said second domain regulating means in the display areas of the pixels.
  2. 14
A liquid crystal display device comprising a first substrate and a second substrate for sandwiching a liquid crystal having a negative dielectric constant anisotropy, wherein said first substrate includes thin fil transistors and domain regulating means, and wherein said domain regulating means is a protrusion-like structure on said first substrate, said structure is formed of same member as at least one of members constituting said thin fil transistors.
  3. 18
A liquid crystal display device comprising a first substrate and a second substrate for sandwiching a liquid crystal having a negative dielectric constant anisotropy, wherein said first substrate includes thin fil transistors, domain regulating means and pixel electrodes connected to said thin fil transistor, and wherein said domain regulating means is a protrusion-like structure and is provided at areas where conductive members corresponding to said pixel electrodes are not provided.
