Model for the definition of world wide web sites and method for the design and verification of web sites using the aforementioned model

Abstract

WebML is a model that supports the definition of Web sites, capable of supporting the specification activities for the design, verification, and implementation of World Wide Web applications. This model includes a structural sub-model and a presentation sub-model and is further characterized by the inclusion of a composition sub-model and a navigation sub-model. The composition sub-model permits the definition of the elementary pages, which compose a Web site starting from the structural model. The navigation sub-model defines the way of accessing the pages of the Web site from outside and the way of moving from a page to another page within the site. This model is used in the context of a method for the construction of Web sites.

  1. 1
Model for the design, verification, and implementation of World Wide Web sites, comprising a structural sub-model and a presentation sub-model, further characterized by the further inclusion of independent composition sub-model and navigation sub-model.
  2. 17
Method according to the claim 16, characterized by the fact of including the following sequence of steps:(a) requirement analysis of the Web application;(b) design of the site by means of the development of a model comprising independent structural sub-model, composition sub-model, navigation sub-model and presentation sub-model, where the aforementioned composition model enables the definition of the logical pages (31) that make up the Web site starting from the aforementioned structural sub-model, and where the navigation sub-model permits the definition of physical pages (69), access collections for the Web application, and the definition of suitable sequence of logical pages interconnected by means of links (64), called navigation paths, to form a logical hypertext;(c) design and verification of at least one hypertext composed of logical pages interconnected by means of links and aggregated into physical pages;(d) assignment of the aforementioned hypertext to at least one user group;(e) definition of the graphical presentation of physical pages;(f) definition of the database that supports the site;(g) generation and installation of the page templates.
  3. 20
Method according to the claim 17, characterized by the fact of including rules for the verification of a set of physical pages with respect to both the structural model and the logical hypertext.
