A radiator assembly for a vehicle

Abstract

In a radiator assembly of a water cooled engine driven vehicle heating is performed by a compartment heat exchanger 8. As long as the temperature of the cooling water is low it does not suffice to sufficiently heat by compartment heat exchanger 8 shortly after engine start an auxiliary heating equipment is used. Said auxiliary heating equipment includes a heat exchanger 7 at the heating side, a heat exchanger 9 at the endothermic side and a Peltier element 10. Said Peltier element 10 leads to high energy efficiency because it provides a quantity of heat which is more than the quantity of energy charged into the Peltier element, since it transfers Joule heat generated by the charge energy to the heat exchanger 7 and further transfers a quantity of heat to heat exchanger 7 as absorbed in a heat exchanger 9 at the endothermic side from an endothermic surface of said Peltier element by a Peltier effect to the exothermic side.

  1. 1
A radiator assembly of a vehicle having a water cooled engine as a heat source of said radiator assembly wherein a heat exchanging means (8) is provided for heating the vehicle compartment by heat exchange between cooling water of the engine (1) and air, and wherein an exothermic means is provided for heating the cooling water by heat generated by the Peltier effect.
  2. 12
A radiator assembly for a water cooled engine driven vehicle, comprising a heating circuit having at least one compartment heat exchanger (8) in series with an auxiliary heat exchanger (7) and an electric heating means associated to said auxiliary heat exchanger (7) wherein said electric heating means is constituted by at least one Peltier element (10), said Peltier element (10) being sandwiched via respective heat transferring connections between said auxiliary heat exchanger (7) and an additional heat exchanger (9), said auxiliary heat exchanger (7) being provided at an exothermic side and said additional heat exchanger (9) being provided at an endothermic side of said Peltier element (10), said auxiliary heat exchanger (7) being installed upstream of said compartment heat exchanger (8).
