9 claims: 3 independent, 6 dependent

  1. 1
An absorbent, flexible structure comprising pseudo-thermoplastic starch fibers that can be softened by heating in the presence of solvents or softeners to a degrese such that they can be brought into a flowable state, such fibers having a size ranging from 0.01 dtex to 5 dtex.
  2. 8
A structure comprising pseudo-thermoplastic starch fibers that can be softened by heating in the presence of solvents or softeners to a degrese such that they can be brought into a flowable state, such fibers wherein the fibers have a Tg of at least -30°C and the structure has a geometric mean decayed wet tensile strength ranging from 0g/cm to 20 g/cm and wherein said fibers have a size ranging from 0.01 dtex to 135 dtex.
  3. 9
An absorbent structure comprising one or more plies wherein at least one ply comprises pseudo-thermoplastic starch fibers that can be softened by heating in the presence of solvents or softeners to a degrese such that they can be brought into a flowable state, such fibers having a size ranging from 0.01 dtex to 5 dtex and wherein the at least one ply has a basis weight ranging from 10 g/m 2 to 100 g/m 2 , a GMDT ranging from 40 g/cm to 475 g/cm, an apparent density ranging from 0.04 g/cm 3 to 0.12 g/cm 3 , and an initial GMWT ranging from 2 g/cm to 200 g/cm.
