4 claims: 1 independent, 3 dependent

  1. 1
A broadcasting receiver which generates a clock of a predetermined frequency on the basis of a reference signal included in digital data including time-axis information and has an internal timer operating with the clock, comprising:reference signal detection means (10) for detecting the reference signal;clock generation means (15) for generating a clock of a frequency on the basis of the reference signal;counter means (16) for counting the clock;and difference generation means (11) for calculating a time difference between output of the counter means (16) an the reference signal;characterized by control means (12) for holding the output of the difference generation means (11) in response to a control signal indicating that the receiver is changed to an operation standby state, and for transferring the unmodified output of the difference generation means (11) when the receiver leaves the operation standby state at predetermined time intervals comprising a plurality of clock cycles of the internal timer so as to receive an actual reference signal including time-axis information, to adjust the clock generation means (15) accordingly, and to return to the operation standby state thereafter, whereby power consumption is reduced.
  2. 2
The broadcasting receiver of Claim 1 wherein when the receiver leaves the operation standby state, the reference signal detection means (10) detects the reference signal, the holding operation of the control means (12) is released, whereby the receiver is put into an operation state for a prescribed time.
  3. 3
The broadcasting receiver of Claim 1 wherein    a transport stream is utilized as the digital data including the time-axis information and a PCR (Program Clock Reference) indicating a broadcasting time for each program is utilized as the reference signal.
  4. 4
The broadcasting receiver of Claim 1 wherein    a transport stream is utilized as the digital data including the time-axis information and a TDT (Time and Data Table) indicating a broadcasting time for each program is utilized as the reference signal.
