  1. 1
A light control method for intensity modulation and/or light flux density modulation, including:converging a control light (S1) and a signal light (S2) of different wavelengths;irradiating the control light (S1) and the signal light (S2) to a light absorption film (80) to produce a thermal lens based on a reversible refractive index distribution;wherein at least said control light (S1) is brought to a focus (Fc) in said light absorption film (80) so as to produce a temperature rise in the region (85) of said light absorption film (80) which absorbed said control light (S1) and the surrounding region;and the wavelength of said control light (S1) is selected from the absorption band of said light absorption film (80);and the thickness of said light absorption film (80) does not exceed twice the confocal length (Zc) of the converged control light (S1), wherein the confocal length is the distance of an interval over which the light flux may be considered substantially parallel in the vicinity of the beam waist and wherein a light transmitting heat insulating film passing said control light (S1) and said signal light (S2) and a heat transfer film passing said control light (S1) and said signal light (S2) are provided on said light absorption film (80) in the composition light absorption film (80)/heat insulation film/heat transfer film.
  2. 3
A light control method according to claims 1 or 2, including laminating a light transmitting film on said light absorption film (80), heat insulation film or light reflecting film, and laminating a convex lens (87) which functions as a converging means for said control light (S1) on the incidence side of said control light (S1) on said light transmitting film.
  3. 4
A light control method as defined in one of claims 1, 2 or 3, wherein signal light (S2) flux in a region strongly affected by intensity modulation and/or light flux density modulation is separately extracted by extracting a signal light (S2) flux which diverges after it has passed through said optical element (8) within an angular range smaller than the divergence angle of said signal light (S2) flux.
  4. 5
A light control device performing intensity modulation and/or light flux density modulation, including a control light source (1) emitting control light (S1);a signal light source (2) emitting signal light (S2) having a different wavelength than the control light;- a light absorption film (80);- converging means for respectively converging a control light (S1) and a signal light (S2), and for arranging the optical paths of said control light (S1) and signal light (S2) so that the regions in which the photon densities are highest in the vicinity of the foci of said control light (S1) and signal light (S2) overlap, and - wherein said light absorption film (80) is arranged in a position where the regions in which the-photon densities are highest in the vicinity of the foci of said control light (S1) and signal light (S2) overlap, so as to produce a temperature rise in the region (85) of said light absorption film (80) which absorbed said control light (S1) and the surrounding region, to obtain a thermal lens based on a reversible refractive index distribution;- the wavelength of said control light (S1) being selected from the absorption band of said light absorption film (80);and - the thickness of said light absorption film (80) does not exceed twice the confocal length (Zc) of the converged control light (S1), wherein the confocal length is the distance of an interval over which the light flux may be considered substantially parallel in the vicinity of the beam waist and wherein a light transmitting heat insulating film passing said control light (S1) and said signal light (S2) and a heat transfer film passing said control light (S1) and said signal light (S2) are provided on said light absorption film (80) in the composition light absorption film (80)/heat insulation film/heat transfer film.
  5. 8
A light control device as defined in one of claims 5, 6 or 7, comprising means which separately extracts signal light (S2) flux in a region strongly affected by intensity modulation and/or light flux density modulation by extracting said signal light (S2) flux which diverges after it has passed through said optical element (8) within an angular range smaller than the divergence angle of said signal light (S2) flux.
