Fold latch assembly for a stroller

Abstract

The fold latch assembly (10) includes a latch (36) slidably connected to an arm (20) of the collapsible stroller, a housing (40) pivotally attached to the latch and slidably attached to the rear leg (18) of the stroller, and a mount fixedly attached to rear leg of the stroller. The latch operates to releasably secure the collapsible stroller in an operative position and may be released to allow the stroller to be biased into a collapsed position.

  1. 1
A fold latch assembly for releasably interconnecting a frame comprising at least a first tubular member and at least a second tubular member, said fold latch assembly comprising:a latch slidably connected within said first tubular member;a mount fixedly attached to said second tubular member;anda housing slidably connected to said second tubular member.
  2. 14
A fold latch assembly for use on a stroller, said stroller having a frame defined by a pair of forward legs, a pair of rearward legs disposed rearwardly relative to said forward legs, and a pair of arms extending from said rearward legs, said fold latch assembly comprising:a latch slidably connected within each of said pair of arms;a mount fixedly attached to each of said rearward legs;anda housing slidably connected to each of said rearward legs.
  3. 20
A fold latch assembly for use on a stroller, said stroller having a frame defined by a pair of forward legs, a pair of rearward legs disposed rearwardly relative to said forward legs, and a pair of arms extending from said rearward legs, said fold latch assembly comprising:a wire having a stop member disposed thereon;a latch slidably connected within each of said pair of arms, said latch comprising a piston having a slot therethrough and a cam surface, said latch further comprising a stem having a wire retention mechanism disposed thereon, said wire retention mechanism comprising a first member having a first U-shaped groove, said first U-shaped groove facing in an approximately axially normal direction relative to said stem, a second member having a second U-shaped groove, said second U-shaped groove facing in an approximately axially normal direction relative to said stem and opening in a direction rotated approximately 180 degrees relative to said first U-shaped groove, and a third member having a third U-shaped groove, said third U-shaped groove facing in an approximately normal direction relative to said stem and opening in approximately the same direction as said first U-shaped groove, each said U-shaped groove being sized approximately greater than the diameter of said wire and approximately less than the diameter of said stop member;a means for releasably tensioning said wire such that when said wire is tensioned said piston is biased inward relative to said arm.a spring disposed around said stem between said at least one angled rib and said piston, said spring urging said piston outward relative to said arm;a mount fixedly attached to each of said rearward legs, said mount having a ramp portion and a channel portion disposed adjacent said ramp portion, said channel having an opening oppositely disposed relative to said ramp portion, said channel portion being sized to receive at least a portion of said piston;anda housing slidably connected to each of said rearward legs, said housing having a pair of upstanding members, each said upstanding member having a hole therethrough, said housing further having a sleeve portion slidably attached over said rearward leg;anda post inserted through said pair of holes and through said slot such that said piston is captured between said pair of upstanding members.
