Game system operable with backup data on different games machines

Abstract

A game system utilizes a first game machine and a second game machine. The backup data obtained through playing a first game on the first game machine is memorized in a first game cartridge. The first game cartridge is attached to an extension adapter, and the extension adapter is in turn mounted on a controller for the second game machine. Accordingly, the backup data of the first game machine is taken into the second game machine. The second game machine is attached with a second game cartridge. The second machine executes a second game by processing the backup data according to a second game program set up in the second game cartridge.

  1. 1
A game system, comprising:a first processing means (11) included in a first game machine (10), said first game machine being a portable game machine;a first backup data memory means (15b) for memorizing backup data obtained through processing a first game program memorized in a first game program memory means (15a) by said first processing means (11);a second game machine (20) having a second processing means (21), said second game machine being a video game machine connected to a separately provided display;a connection means (50) electrically connected to said first backup data memory means (15b) and transferring said backup data to said second game machine;a second backup data memory means (25b) provided in association with said second game machine (20) and temporarily memorizing the backup data read out of said first backup data memory means (15b) through said connection means;and a second game program memory means (25a) provided in association with said second game machine (20) and memorizing a second game program to be processed by said second processing means (21), wherein said second processing means executes a second game associated with the backup data by executing the second game program memorized in said second game program memory means while utilizing the backup data memorized in said second backup data memory means, further comprising: an identification information holding means (15b) for holding identification information (ID, Name) in association with said first backup data memory means (15);an identification information read means (21, S93) for reading the identification information out of said identification information holding means;and a temporary memory means (21, S93, 26) for temporarily memorizing the identification information.
  2. 14
A game system, comprising:a first backup data memory means (15b) for memorizing backup data obtained by processing a first game program memorized in a first game program memory means (15a) by a first processing means (11) included in a first game machine (10);a second game machine (20) having a second processing means (21);an access means (50, 24, 23d, 23b, 22: 23f, 23a, 22: 2, 13, 24, 23d, 23b, 22: 23e, 22) for causing said second processing means (21) to access to said first backup data memory means (15b);a second backup data memory means (25b) provided in association with said second game machine (20) and temporarily memorizing the backup data read out of said first backup data memory means (15b) by said second processing means (21);a second game program memory means (25a) provided in association with said second game machine (20) and memorizing second game program to be processed by said second processing means (21);an update means (21, S97) for updating the backup data memorized in said first backup data memory means depending upon change caused as a result of executing the second game program by said second processing means;a second identification information holding means (15b) for holding second identification information (ID, Name) in association with said first backup data memory means (15b), an identification information read means for reading out the second identification information from said second identification information holding means;and a temporary means (21, S93, 26) for temporarily memorizing the second identification information;wherein said second processing means effects a game associated with the backup data by executing the second game program memorized in said second game program memory means while utilizing the backup data memorized in said second backup data memory means;and said second backup data memory means includes plurality of memory areas (261-264), further comprising a specifying means (21, S12) for specifying said first memory means, wherein said update means writes the backup data into one of said plurality of memory areas corresponding to a first backup data memory means specified by said specifying means.
