The invention relates to a single-phase, foam-like hair treatment agent for achieving a pomade effect, in particular for achieving firmness and shine of the treated hair.
Research in the field of hair treatment agents has long been concerned with preparations in the form of pomades, which serve to facilitate shaping and to increase the shine and hold of the hairstyle. The dosage form of pomades is usually largely limited to non-transparent masses in the form of cream-like emulsions or gels. These dosage forms often lead to poor spreadability of the composition on the hair, which makes the hairstyle difficult, especially if only small hair sections are to be treated with the agent.
The conventional products used to achieve a pomade effect, that is to say to achieve an intensive shine and hold at the same time, usually have a high proportion of water-insoluble substances, such as fatty substances. However, the hair is heavily burdened by these fat bodies and the agent is difficult to remove without residue by shampooing. In addition, there is the problem of undesired separation of the water and fat phase in such products.
An improved application possibility offers itself in that the pomade is applied to the hair in the form of a foam, which breaks down when worked into the hair or when the hairstyle is created.
The object of the present invention was to provide a means with which an intensive pomade effect can be achieved, the negative properties typical of classic pomades such as poor spreadability on the hair, heavy stress on the hair, poor washability of the hair and Phase separation of the product should be avoided if possible.
Low to medium viscosity masses with the technical properties of a pomade can be applied with the help of an aerosol foam. The advantage of a propellant-containing aerosol product is the very easy generation of foam, even with small amounts of only slightly foaming ingredients. However, it is disadvantageous that the difficult problem arises of stabilizing the propellant gas in the aqueous phase for assembly as a single-phase product. In addition to the aesthetic unity of the product, phase separation can change the technical properties. If the aerosol product is to be contained in a transparent packaging, essentially only glass can be considered as packaging material. However, packaging an aerosol product in a glass package represents a potential safety risk.
Foaming without propellant gas is easily achieved by using strongly foaming surfactants from the class of anionic surfactants, amphoteric surfactants or nonionic surfactants. The disadvantage of using these surfactants in concentrations which are necessary for a pomade base to be foamed is that when incorporated into the hair, the foam does not break down, but rather that post-foaming, comparable to a shampoo, takes place on the hair, which is what is undesirable for the application of a pomade. In addition, pomade masses which contain large amounts of these surfactants are too viscous to ensure good foamability without the aid of propellant gas. Thinning with organic solvents leads to a lowering of the viscosity, but also brings about a drastic deterioration in the foamability. If it is diluted with water until an easily foamable viscosity of the mass is reached, this leads to a worsening of the pomade effect.
The task is solved by means of a hair treatment consisting of

(A) containing a single phase composition

(a1) at least one anionic surfactant containing a carboxylate group and

(a2) at least one nonionic emulsifier in combination with

(B) a device for foaming the composition (A).

The agent can also be foamed excellently without propellant gas and can be worked well into the hair without disruptive re-foaming. It gives the hairstyle good formability, a long-lasting shine and a long-lasting soft feel.

Example 16: Comparison of different types of surfactants
The following compositions were examined for their technical properties. The foamability was assessed with the help of a pump foamer, foam quality 15 seconds after foaming, unwanted re-foaming when worked into the hair, durability of the hairstyle and shine. The assessment was made by evaluating the individual criteria of 5 independent persons, with a grade of 1 very good and a grade of 6 meaning unusable.
All information relates to active content in the recipe.

With the criterion "foam quality after 15 seconds", a foam receives a good rating if it has as small a pore and as little collapse as possible 15 seconds after removal and before incorporation into the hair. Patterns C, D and E foamed very strongly when worked into the hair (shampoo effect), so that it was necessary to clean the hair.
The formulation B corresponding to the agent according to the invention improves the technical properties of the formulation A, which consists only of a nonionic surfactant, and has no disadvantages of the formulations C, D and E.
If the formulas B, C, D and E are compared with a formula F, in which the active content of Arlatone® G corresponds to that of the formulas B to E, it can be seen that the hold and shine of the hairstyle treated with this formula , are worse than those treated with formulation B.
