Abstract

A dihydroxy compound characterized by the formula:Wherein R1 and R2 are independently selected from hydrogen and straight and branched alkyl groups containing up to 18 carbon atoms; R3 is selected from -CH=CH- and (-CH2-)k, wherein k is between 0 and 6, inclusive; each Z is independently bromine or iodine, d and n are independently 0, 1 or 2; and X is hydrogen or a pendant group having the structure:wherein Y is selected from straight and branched alkyl and alkyl and alkylaryl groups containing up to 18 carbon atoms.
