  1. 1
A multi-user receiving apparatus for inputting a code division multiple access (CDMA) reception signal and performing thereon a parallel interference cancelling process for a plurality N of users, said apparatus comprising a plurality of interference estimating units (2-m-n, 32-m-n) arranged in a plurality M of successive stages, each stage m, 1≤m≤M, comprising N interference estimating units (IEUs) operating in parallel, each interference estimating unit (IEU) being associated with a given user and a given stage, each IEU associated with a given user being adapted to generate an interference cancellation signal due to said user and a plurality of replicas of a symbol, each replica being generated as a product of said symbol with an estimate of a coefficient of a propagation path of said user; said stage comprising a plurality of first multiplying means (5-m-n, 35m-n) for respectively weighting the interference cancellation signals of the different users with first weighting coefficients; each stage m comprising a delaying unit for delaying an interference cancellation residual signal output by the previous stage m-1, the first stage inputting said CDMA reception signal as interference residual signal; each stage n further comprising subtracting means (4-m, 34-m) for subtracting the interference cancellation signals thus weighted by said first multiplying means from the delayed interference cancellation residual signal, the resulting signal being output to the next stage m+1 as interference cancellation residual signal; characterised in that it further comprises:a plurality of second multiplying means (6-m-n, 36 m-n) for weighting said symbol replicas output by said IEUs with second weighting coefficients, each IEU associated with a given user and an mth stage being adapted to input the interference cancellation residual signal output by the m-1 stage and the symbol replicas output from the IEU associated with the same user in the m-1th stage thus weighted by the second weighting coefficients, to generate therefrom the interference cancellation signal due to said user and to provide symbol replicas to the IEU associated with the same user in the m+1 stage, said IEU associated with the given user and the mth stage being further adapted to obtain said interference cancellation signal by spreading the difference between the symbol replicas generated by said IEU and the weighted symbol replicas output from the IEU associated with the same user in the m-1th stage.
  2. 13
A multi-user receiving method inputting a code division multiple access (CDMA) reception signal and performing thereon a parallel interference canceling process for a plurality N of users, said method comprising a plurality of interference estimating steps (2-m-n, 32-m-n) performed in a plurality M of successive stages, each stage m, 1≤m≤M, comprising N interference estimating steps carried out in parallel, each interference estimating step (IBS) being associated with a given user and a given stage, each step associated with a given user generating an interference cancellation signal due to said user and a plurality of replicas of a symbol, each replica being generated as a product of said symbol with an estimate of a coefficient of a propagation path of said user; said stage comprising a plurality of first multiplying steps (5-m-n; 35-m-n) for respectively weighting the interference cancellation signals of the different users with first weighting coefficients; each stage further comprising subtracting steps (4-m) for subtracting the interference cancellation signals thus weighted by said first multiplying steps from an interference cancellation residual signal, the resulting signal being provided to the next stage m+1 as interference cancellation residual signal; characterised in that it further comprises:a plurality of second multiplying steps (6-m-n, 36-m-n) for weighting said symbol replicas output by said IESs with second weighting coefficients, each IES associated with a given user and an mth stage inputting the interference cancellation residual signal output by the m-1 stage and the symbol replicas provided by the IES associated with the same user in the m-1th stage thus weighted by the second weighting coefficients, to generate therefrom the interference cancellation signal due to said user and providing symbol replicas to the IES associated with the same user in the m+1 stage, said IES associated with the given user and the mth stage obtaining said interference cancellation signal by spreading the difference between the symbol replicas generated by said IES and the weighted symbol replicas output from the IES associated with the same user in the m-1th stage.
