    A disposable cartridge (52) for use in a fluid flow control system comprising:a cartridge housing formed from at least two housing sections (54, 56) which are joined together, said housing sections (54, 56) being provided with at least two fluid connection ports (66- 69), an internal fluid flow passage circuit fluidly connected to the connection ports and an opening exposing an interior of said cartridge housing;and characterized in a miniature scroll fluid device (211) formed of plastic, said scroll fluid device having associated inlet and outlet ports in fluid communication with said internal fluid flow passage circuit and at least one movable work element provided with an attachment member adapted to be interconnected with a drive element for operating said scroll fluid device, said scroll fluid device (211) being positioned within said cartridge housing with said attachment member being located at said opening.

    A fluid flow control system comprising:the disposable cartridge (52) as claimed in any preceding claim and a control module (277) including: a control housing having a main body portion (279) and a carrier body portion (281), said carrier body portion (281) defining a cartridge receiving area (298) that is adapted to receive said disposable cartridge (52);a drive unit including a drive element adapted to be drivingly connected to the attachment member of said scroll fluid device (211) following insertion of the disposable cartridge (52) in said cartridge receiving area (298);and means for controlling the operation of said drive unit in order to regulate an operation of said scroll fluid device (211).

    The fluid flow control system according to any of claims 9 to 11, further comprising a mechanism (342) for shifting said carrier body portion (281) of said control housing between a cartridge loading/unloading position wherein said carrier body (281) is spaced from said main body portion (279) and an in-use position wherein said carrier body portion (281) is shifted towards said main body portion (279).
