Network management device and method for setting up a logical link in a synchronous digital transmission system

Abstract

Previous digital synchronous communication networks are static networks that can be adapted only to a small extent to short-term load fluctuations. This situation is improved by a network control device (NSE), which is used to establish logical connections in the digital synchronous communication network. It has access means for receiving a connection request for a logical connection to be established by a customer, selection means for selecting a path for the logical connection to be established and means for arranging the establishment of the logical connection to be established via the selected path.
