Transmitting apparatus

Abstract

A transmitting apparatus for inserting new information from a designated position of one channel and transmitting in a transmitting system for compressing a series of information signals by a non-prediction coding and a prediction coding which uses non-prediction coding information as reference information and for transmitting prediction coding information and the non-prediction coding information in accordance with a predetermined order, wherein the non-prediction coding information just after an insertion point and the past information than the non-prediction coding information are preserved, and a first predetermined number of information in the information to be inserted is prediction coded by using the non-prediction coding information just after the insertion point as reference information.

29 claims: 10 independent, 19 dependent

  1. 1
An image processing apparatus for inserting second image data into first image data including intra-picture coded image data and bidirectionally predictable inter-picture coded image data, comprising:a) input means for inputting said second image data;b) designation means for designating a position where said second image data is to be inserted into said first image data;c) inserting means for inserting said second image data into said first image data;and d) control means for controlling a position where said second image data is actually inserted into said first image data, to the position designated by said designation means so that said first image data can be decoded.
  2. 6
An apparatus according to any one of the preceding claims, wherein said first image data is MPEG standard-encoded data.
  3. 10
An image processing method of inserting second image data into first image data including intra-picture coded image data and bidirectionally predictable inter-picture coded image data, comprising:a) an input step of inputting said second image data;b) a designation step of designating a position where said second image data is to be inserted into said first image data;c) an inserting step of inserting said second image data into said first image data;and d) a control step of controlling a position where said second image data is actually inserted into said first image data, to the position designated by said designation step so that said first image data can be decoded.
  4. 15
A method according to any one of claims 10 to 14, wherein said first image data is MPEG standard-encoded data.
  5. 19
A recording apparatus for recording new information from a designated position of an existing record in a recording system for compressing a series of information signals by a non-prediction coding and a prediction coding which uses non-prediction coding information as reference information and for recording prediction coding information and the non-prediction coding information onto a recording medium in accordance with a predetermined order, wherein the non-prediction coding information just after an insertion point in the recorded information and the past information than said non-prediction coding information are preserved, and a first predetermined number of information in the information to be inserted is prediction coded by using the non-prediction coding information just after the insertion point of the recorded information as reference information.
  6. 21
A recording apparatus for recording new information from a designated position of an existing record in a recording system for compressing a series of information signals by a non-prediction coding and a prediction coding which uses non-prediction coding information as reference information and for recording prediction coding information and the non-prediction coding information onto a recording medium in accordance with a predetermined order, wherein the past non-prediction coding information which uses the non-prediction coding information just after the insertion point as reference information in the recorded information is erased, and a first predetermined number of information in the information to be inserted is prediction coded by using the non-prediction coding information just before the insertion point in the recorded information as reference information.
  7. 22
A transmitting apparatus for inserting new information from a designated position of one channel and transmitting in a transmitting system for compressing a series of information signals by a non-prediction coding and a prediction coding which uses non-prediction coding information as reference information and for transmitting prediction coding information and the non-prediction coding information in accordance with a predetermined order, wherein the non-prediction coding information just after an insertion point and the past information than said non-prediction coding information are preserved, and a first predetermined number of information in the information to be inserted is prediction coded by using the non-prediction coding information just after the insertion point as reference information.
  8. 26
A recording medium having recorded thereon frames of an information signal compressed by either non-prediction or prediction coding and including additional data inserted either intra-frame or inter-frame at at least one insertion point, and wherein said additional data is coded utilising coding information adjacent to said insertion point.
  9. 27
A data signal comprising frames of an information signal compressed by either non-prediction or prediction coding, and including additional data inserted either intra-frame or inter-frame at at least one insertion point, said additional data being coded in accordance with coding information adjacent to the or each said insertion point.
  10. 28
A method of generating an information signal comprising either prediction or non-prediction encoding of frames of the signal, inserting either intra-frame or inter-frame additional data at at least one insertion point, and coding the inserted data in accordance with the coding of the information signal adjacent the or each insertion point.
  11. 29
A method of reading a recorded information signal which includes inserted data and which has been prediction and non-prediction encoded in frames, including demodulating the signal, variable length decoding the demodulated signal, and inserting code data into the demodulated signal in accordance with the nature of data previously inserted into the information signal.
